some of us get youth allowance, u/e benefits etc....

will centerlink pay me ( us) more for going uni and still dont have jobs.. because with centerlink im still unemployed but going to uni full time.. does that mean i will get more money for going to uni every fortnight, because of the uni cost- travelling and general sex cost.

Thanks

I wish I got money from centrelink.

Instead I have to work my ass off whilst I'm doing full time uni.

Then my taxes go to feed you, who wants more money even though they're unemployed and is scared to try find a job because it's "past xmas period".

Wait til u get a job which pays in the highest tax bracket (i think the higher tax bracket is like $75,000+, correct me if im wrong but i think its around there) and u get taxed almost half ur pay.

OP: suck it up and get a job, you'll find it pays better anyway when you actually work.

No doubt it does, but most forced independents cant. Full time Uni, yes you can get a bloody job, but some cant.

Depending on your situation it can be impossible to live without Centrelink benefits, even if you have a job. However for those who still live with mummy and daddy without having a care in the world about paying for food and rent and bills, who just want to pocket some extra cash each week for doing sweet fuck all, grow the fuck up.

Centrelink is important, but only for those who actually need it.

If your in Uni and doing Full time, it doesnt matter anyways. The Uni gives you enough time to get a part tiem job and earn money.

A part time job often isn't enough to maintain reasonable living standards if your completely independent (your even more fucked if you don't meet the crazy centrelink criteria for being independent)

a) you dont get more for going to uni unless you're "living away from home"

and

b) Get a job - I qualified for Centrelink and got it but still worked two jobs and didnt get one cent from Centrelink till i had a fortnight off for exams then again when I came overseas where I couldn't work but still had uni - its not that hard to get a job is it?

Hmmmm this whole "hurry the fuck up and get a job mentality" is kinda annoying. Yes, I agree that it's not fair people should leach off other students working their asses off and paying taxes. That is not right. But it is NOT just post-Xmas period. It is also a period where some businesses are culling half their staff, because they can't afford them ( 3 stores I went up to yesterday- when I was handing out resumes- were doing this). So yes, in other peoples' experience it may be easy to get a job. And you may have your own personal narratives ( and stories from friends) about how simple it is. But everyone else's situation isn't necessarily the same as yours.

Keep trying though, to find work I mean. My work is currently hiring, and I presume a few other places will be as well.
