Actually I don't think her motive was money (ABC doesn't pay for interviews). I also don't think she was acting and shedding crocodile tears. Her motive was to finally get a chance to screw over those she felt deserved it. I suppose she succeeded.

It's very simple, Matthew Johns wasn't thinking of his wife or family when he was having sex with her. He is mostly to blame for his actions and what they have cost him.

seven years later?

if she was that concerned about it she would have come out with the story then.

Well I think we need to be careful when we say that sexual assault victims should come out sooner, and if they don't then it can't be serious.

Some child survivors of sexual assault wait ~20 years before reporting it to police, especially incases of homosexual paedophilia.

I genuinely don't think this is a case of sexual assault, and if you look at the words of this woman, she isn't saying it's sexual assault, she just feels ashamed because she got gang banged and they didn't whisper sweet nothings in her ear.

To everyone saying the girl was a mad slut:

The girl involved would probably have been intimidated in the situation, for everyone saying it would have been easy to say 'no' how many of you have had a room full of footy players with their dicks out ready to go who probably wouldnt stop even if you did say no? It probably wouldn't have been as simple as just saying 'no'. I don't know if she enjoyed it or not, she says she didnt Johns says it appears she did. Probably she just went along with it to try and get it over and done with.

Yes everything in that is 'probably' because maybe the girl is just a mad slut but you can't rule out the probability that she didn't want to do it and that she was pressured into submission, the lasting emotional trauma that came because of the situation is pretty good evidence that this is the case (she was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress)

To everyone saying that Johns doesnt deserve to take the fall:

They were his actions so he deserves the consequences. Yes he did already apologise and yes he did already own up to his wife. The consequences do seem extreme but many people in society view his actions on that night as extremely wrong.

I am not saying that all blame should then be placed on Johns, the other players from Cronulla at the time should also be held accountable.

To everyone saying she was clearly after the money because of the time between the event and her coming out about it:

It would not be about money (its ABC we are talking here) the interview was done because she wanted revenge for the stress and trauma she perceived johns and co had put her through.

Many sexual assault cases are never brought to police attention because of the embarassment the victims feel. Probably due to the fact that when a case like this comes out everyone goes around calling the victim a slut.

The question is, to what extent should women be responsible for what happens to them? If you don't say no, should you take responsibility for it?

What more does a man have to do after he's obtained consent?

Allegedly she was saying shit like "is someone gonna fuck me or are you just gonna stand there". Certainly appears like someone who feels peer pressured!

Disgraceful that this guy lost his job because some slut (and let's be honest, she clearly is) got gang banged then later felt ashamed.

No doubt in my mind there is a certain motivation here for attention, otherwise, why name names ? especially when the consensus appears to be Johns didn't particpate once others came into the room.

Um, nah hey.

She was actually talking about Johns, not her co-worker.

Fair enough then, I thought it was about Johns and how he came in and bragged to them.

Wonder how the media will take this? Probably gloss over it conveniently.

A former workmate of a woman at the centre of a group sex scandal with National Rugby League players says she experienced "no trauma whatsoever" from the affair.

Former NRL star and Channel Nine personality Matthew Johns was stood down by the network and the Melbourne Storm yesterday in the wake of the scandal.

On Monday night ABC1's Four Corners program revealed Mr Johns and other Cronulla Sharks players had sex with a 19-year-old woman in a Christchurch hotel in 2002.

The players involved insisted the sex was consensual and New Zealand police did not lay any charges.

The woman said the experience left her feeling degraded and suicidal.

But workmate Tanya Boyd has told Channel Nine tonight that the woman openly boasted about the incident with fellow employees.

"She was bragging about it to staff and quite openly saying she had had sex with several players," she said.

"There was no trauma whatsoever."

Ms Boyd said the woman did not report the incident to police until five days later.

"I was disgusted that a woman can all of a sudden change her story from having a great time to turning it into a terrible crime," she said.

Earlier, Sharks chairman Barry Pierce refused to name other players involved in the group sex act.

Mr Pierce, who was the NRL club's chairman at the time, says he shares the public's outrage over revelations several players took part in the incident.

But he says innocent players could be implicated if he named names.

"It would be incredibly damaging to an ex-player or staff member to be named who had nothing to do with the incident," he said in a statement.

"Certainly the club is a very different organisation today than it was then, and I have had a role in driving that change.

"I cannot undo what has been done, and I again apologise on behalf of the club to the young lady involved for her suffering."

-*The Four Corners program can be seen in full on the "ABC's iView website. Extended interviews can be seen on the "Four Corners website.*

yeah, they said it in about the middle of the program, and then went on with some womens rights activist that said something about how matt johns never said sorry for his violence against women and for raping her, etc. cause he raped her and everything.

yup, agreed with the general consensus

this is a trial by media and johns has been unjustifiably vilified. responsibility falls on the girl. She always had the opportunity to say no and she didnt.

i feel sorry for Johns' wife and kids, theyre the real victims
