but isnt it just giving more than the question asked for? Like if they asked for 1 technique i'd probably slip an extra one in there just to make sure i got the mark. I mean the question asked for ONE text, so you gave them ONE then if added another one isnt that just more info?

That is exactly what I thought in the exam. It's like for business studies. You use case studies to support your answer. It doesn't hurt to put an extra case study in. During the English exam, I was thinking of doing one. But I was like "What the hell... might as well do two. It won't hurt". But apparently it will potentially hurt my ATAR.

It said ONE related text. If you used two, you should only be marked for the first one you used, and - therefore - your essay is shortened.

bos cannot explicitly penalize students for having 2related texts due to positive marking. i think thats what the OP is going on about.

what i think will happen though is that the marker would expect a greater amount of depth in the related texts portion of the essay relative to past years. thus while people who did 2 wont be marked down, they most probably lack depth in comparison to the higher depth analytical potential of working with one related and as a result will not get the marks their essay would get if the q asked for 2 related.

This is possibly the funniest thing I've ever read. I have resigned to the board of studies' bipolar inconsistancy. I think the actual office is just full of pelicans in one big room with all the papers. The amount of times the pelicans dump on your paper is what band you recieve. If you're really lucky, and went into your exam loaded up with four leaf clovers and rabbit feet, the Golden Pelican, which they artifically manipulate (is it still a human?) to create golden turds, will dump on your paper, and you get a state rank.

From what I've seen over the last two weeks, I have come to the conclusion that this is they only logical way they operate in relation to marking.
