Do I speak to our CSM about getting smokeshop privileges? Or do they give you a complete different login that does both, or do you get 2 separate logins?
Yes, speak to your CSM. They will probably discuss it with the SSM before it happens though. You use the same Operator ID/Password to sign on to all WoWPOS registers in the store, the CSM will 'link' your Operator ID to the 'Smoke-shop' checkout bank in Operator/Supervisor Maintenance in StoreLine.

Also, store release 9.3, cant believe that woolies actually managed to pull off an upgrade with NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER, except for the fact that the GCM Spindle's didnt arrive because they were breaking in transi *rolls eyes* not sure the AMTA thing is that great, seems faster to just do it on the computer.
Lucky You. All our tills are the SLOWEST we have ever seen since the upgrade! NOT Impressed!

tested it when there were no customers one day.... took 5 minutes to load the webpage then another 2 minutes to load the keyboard... we've pretty much just kept using the paper form and doing it later... :S

edit: our registers are perfectly fine, perhaps a bit faster.... the only one that gives us grief is one of the smokeshop ones (but granted we hardly ever use it anyway) so that's ok.. it just gets overheated (and doesn't help that sometimes people stick the empty change bag right over the vents! idiots..)

Oh, also, very grave event happened today, at 2pm, very tragically, the first "proper" christmas carol was played, Away in a Manger, the next hour saw another 4 carols.

Truly this is the saddest part of the year, i both love and loathe christmas at woolies in equal measure, all the lead-up is shit, though i do admit, there is a bit of a buzz working on x-mas eve.
think yourself lucky, you only have one store to deal with. We have got 1230+ direct stores across multiple divisions who always have some sort of issue. from monday it will start to ramp up, we already visit stores during the week to keep on top of things, now we also have to go into competitors to make sure we are on top of their promo's and from 6am each day all the comp adds from around australia start hitting your email which you have to take action at least 60% of the time.

Todays tip, you can't sell empty shelves!, if you are missing stock or there is a problem, don't be lazy and get on the phone to the business teams and let us know. We are not mind readers or have some crystal ball where we can see every store and know their issues and if you have made a mistake and stuffed something, just admit it so we can help as quick as possible. remember that everything you do on a register, rf unit or computer can be audited and spinning a yarn won't work all the time

Ill be kicked out of S/S if i get stuck with heaps of refunds that distract what my CSM is doing.

How do i go about getting my own numbers to do the refund?

Really? I used S/S last week and I was able to void transactions, refund and use Qty functions...and I'm not even a supervisor! Has the new software changed this?

Christmas:

Leading up to Christmas absolutely sucks cock. (Our very first batch of Xmas Nuts arrived last week, joy) Grocery (we have deliveries every 3 days for grocery) which means each of those deliveries has 20+ pallets, meaning you can't even fart in the back yard, and if it starts to rain, well we don't have enough tarps to go round so they stick pallets in my produce room, in butchery, everywhere to keep them dry. And at night when they lock up they stick pallets in my room which means in the morning the truckie can't lift my produce into the cool room so it sits outside and then I have to spend 15 minutes taking all the grocery shit out of the cool room and then another 15 moving my produce in.

HOWEVER, while the lead up to Xmas sucks, i am looking forward to Christmas Club night (we like have heaps of produce cut up for tastes, watermelon, strawberries etc) and it is just super fun and Xmas eve. Busiest fucking day of the year (we do double our normal sales) but omg the most fun filled day ever. No body knows what they are doing, everyone runs around like headless chickens, and it's this which makes the day so much more enjoyable. Then at the end of the day all the managers and 2IC's head to the Pub to get hammered.

For those of you who haven't experienced Christmas week, you are in for a fun ride :p Don't let the 10 + Deep lines at every check out annoy the crap out of you, just go with the flow (I remember Last year, our Store Manager was actually packing bags for me! I was like OMG) Just enjoy it and make the most of the experience.

No. You Have to be given Smokeshop Privellages.

On Self-serve,you can do refunds but you are Not Allowed to. This was Emphasized in The Training DVD before WoWPos SCO Launched.

Yay!! Just a question - do you get paid 2.5x or 1.5x on christmas eve/day because someone told me you get 2.5x on public holidays!

You sure do.

It's 2.5 times the part time/full time wage. For example, $10.02 for 16 year old casual, $8.35 an hour is the part time wage. you go: 8.35x2.5xHOURS

Indeed you to.

Anybody can serve smokes in Victoria, you dont need to be 18. Yes, is the answer to your question, if another worker or supervisor logs you in for them, which they may do if they need to count your register before you get on, so you do smokeshop whilst they do that for example.

But yes, i just asked about the smokeshop privileges, which needs to be added to your numbers/login.

Cheers

SCOs running WoWPOS SCO are logged on with their own user name (if you look on one of the receipts you will see the user id is 801 etc.)
So you aren't actually logging in as yourself, the machine is logged on as its own user name - thats why you have access to some parts of the Supervisor menu. You're not allowed to do refunds though. :/

LOL, I think we need to agree on our abbreviations, cause S/S seems to have developed two meanings - smoke shop and self serve.

S/S - smoke shop
SCO - self serve

everyone happy with that.?? haha soz but i got so confused in the last few pages - wasnt sure if you were talking about smokeshop or self serve. :p

congratulations! i can't help you with the pay, but someone will be able to.
with uniforms - no one knows what the new ones are like because they haven't started shipping them yet. for existing staff the site to order them online is: MainLogin (obviosuly you get your first one free at induction) and there are pics on there to have a look at, you can't really tell the difference between spot and plain in the photos. i ordered a new one and i got spot - just to be different lol.

Grats. What department? Service?
And what state are you in, because in most, you need to be 15. Plus we need to know what state so we can help you find the pay wage :)

Thanks

The age at which you can sell smokes does vary not only state to state, but also store to store. However, not all operators have their checkout bank linked to smokeshop. On thursday I gave a few newbies their numbers, and I automatically linked them to smokeshop. Not sure if I was meant to, because I never had numbers in smokeshop for ages - always had to log in as a manager who wasn't on checkouts at the time.

If you can do all of that, then your checkout bank must have been linked to supervisor privileges.

Unless you're being made a permanent smokeshop operator, I doubt they will give you sup numbers. They understand that you don't have numbers, so you won't be kicked out for asking for refunds. Its not your fault!

I think you'll get the old one, just coz thats the stock that HR will have.

BUT, forgot to mention this yesterday, but I saw someone wearing the new uniform (as I was getting off the train to uni though). It looks good, very pale, but the fabric looks better than the current one.
She had it tucked in though :( I hope that isn't going to be a requirement for the girls shirts.

gahh how did she get it! My order status is still 'Warehouse' - at least it's moved on from 'Back Order' AND I still havnt got my refund from Spotless. I got my SSM to get onto HR about it, but he hasn't got back to me either. This is seriously pissing me off - I ordered a new shirt in august so that there would be plenty of time for it to arrive before I start back at work after exams, and before start of christmas hours and I still havnt got anything. So annoying!

I don't understand the difference between the Spot and Plain new shirts, so I'm just going to go ahead and get a plain shirt. The stupid F$^@ pictures dont show anything apart from a SLIIIGHT change in colour.
