re: The Official Football Thread

It's the WORLD CUP mate.

If you want to see only the best teams then watch the Euro's.

We are hardly in a position to be ripping on how shit other countries are, we'll be one of the shitter countries at the tournament as well.
Isn't that the point of THE WORLD CUP that its the best teams in the world competing in a tourney to see who is THE best team in the world. Wouldn't be much of a tournament if it's only made up of teams like Malta and Samoa. My point is that its ridiculous that a region so poor in completion CONCACAF gets 3.5 spots when they should only really have 2. Those extra spots should really be given to a stronger regions.

Russia obviously wouldn't win if they qualified anyway, because they weren't able to beat the best in Europe. Honduras however, were able to play with the best in CONCACAF, and therefore may seem more deserving of their spot. The tournament is designed to have equal strength shown across all the confederations, and it is for this reason that UEFA has 13 countries qualifying (that's only 3 less than the qualifiers for European Championships)...at least 7 more than any other confederation.

good logic; maybe offering the south-american region another place as the top 6 from this year were very, very close.

that is actually a good idea...top 5 straight in...I'd probably take the place from CONCACAF, so that the 3rd place there plays the 6th place CONMEBOL
