The Grudge, hands down.

Halloween is pretty good too. The Ring is fair scary if you watch it by yourself at midnight.

Who's at the forefront of modern horror? The Americans? The Japanese? The Italians?
No.
It's the French. They're definitely at the top.

Check out some of the movies listed in this thread
BLOODY-DISGUSTING - French Horror ... So Far

Soon the mainstream will catch on

Much more effective than your latest American and Japanese releases

Bit of a fail ending. Could have done with another 20-30 mins added onto the end.
+1. This is the main reason I think exorcist worked better.

what do you guys think about the Freddy Kruger and Jason movies?
I like the Jason films. Nightmare on Elm street never really caught my attention. Though I've only seen the first one and FvsJ so I can't really say to much about the whole series.

Halloween is pretty good too.
Watched it for the first time last night. Enjoyed it, though wasn't really scared at all. And I thought the acting was a bit dodgy at some times.

I LOVE PSYCHO! such such such a good film
I'm slowly making my way through the top 100 horrors now. :)

I think Psycho is a good one, that leaves a lasting impression. Exorcist was good, but it didn't have any real after effect on me.
Psycho was good, but the ending was too predictable. The Exorcist i found was gay.

Friday the 13th was good. This Hills have Eyes was pretty good, but tp be honest i really can't remember what happened lol.

The Grudge, hands down.

Both of the Gurdges and the Ring made me laugh XD

Definitely. Surround sound helps too

I've watched some during the day, its just not the same

Try keeping a window slightly open. Hopefully a slight breeze will howl and mingle with the curtains. It really adds to the mood
