It depends on your basic body type to begin with (small bones, big bones, pear shape, hourglass, apple etc) and how you carry it. IMO the taller you are the easier it is to carry off the borderline curvy/fat thing. On shorter women there can sometimes be a tendency to look like you have too much body crammed into not enough space (not always though).
