i guess im at a crossroads in my life right now. i dont know what i want to do...

main round uni offers are out tonight.. possibility of an offer.. (and mum seems quite keen on me going to uni now... great. look wat ive put into her head. coz last year i wasnt thinking of going to uni, until i started thinking about psych and councelling and things like that.)

AND. tomorrow i have yet another interview for a retail traineeship. (they better not fuck me off this time) so this is a 1 year traineeship, which should definately help me to get a better job, in retail which i really want.

so now im stuck. what do i do? i want to earn money, and start getting myself together and creating security for myself (independance) but... i really like the idea of councelling and psych. and i cant do both, coz they both involve full time.

so should i think counselling as a "career" choice? like so come back to it when im 20 or something like that and do uni then?

yeah. im just worried if i pick something i dont like.. e.g. i go to uni and think "wtf am i doing here. i hate all this work and homework and assignments n shit" or if the traineeship interview falls out on me again =S

Go to uni. Get a job and move out with friends or something. If, after a semester, you don't want to go to uni anymore, apply for more traineeships and keep working until one comes up again.

However, if this traineeship is something that you want above all else and you think it will further you in life, then by all means go for it.

That is just my opinion. At the end of the day, it's not my life.

Do you want and what you feel comfortable with, but also have a realistic outlook and perspective of your future. Do you want work in retail in 10 years time? Or would you like flexibility in your career path?

From reading your posts, you seem like a person who'd enjoy psychology (or possibly even social work). But you know yourself and your interests better than others, so ultimately you have to make the final decision on this issue.

go to the interview. see how it goes.

congrats in getting into uni and what you wanted.

but think about this. if you went onto uni and finished everything, will you be able to get a job after it? because seriously, jobs aren't easy to find these days.

Yes, I think it's wise to keep your options open. Tonight, ask yourself what you really want to do in life? Will Uni help you get further in life? Or will your apprenticeship?

I would reckon you go do the traineeships. There are not many psychology jobs. Its pretty competitive. I've know many people do well without going to uni. Just start making money and get experiences.

In my opinion, a job is a job, its not something fantasy. Even if your gut tells you, the 9-5 hours will bore you out of your mind in any job. I did 5 years of design which is something I always wanted to do, but when you actually get out there and do the job. Drawing for 8 hours a day is boring as balls.

Take both.

Traineeship can be done during the day.

Do the uni course part time. ie, you can go to uni at night.

hello peoples

ANCLY - +1 for the avatar (sex drivvee!) and i want to do school councelling :p

and yes. i ditched the traineeship interview, afterall i was just gonna take it as a bridge to get into a better job.

i accepted my uni offer (it fucked my head up tryna enroll) but im in. looking forward to learning new things and making new friends.

uni was the obvious choice when i read that "uni is not only for studying and learning. if we wanted to do that we would have gone to TAFE instead. uni is also about socialising and interacting in social clubs"

oooooh me likey :) YAY FOR UNI
