Is Sunday (25th April-Anzac Day) Public Holiday Rates and/or the Monday?????
My CSM informed me that we have been given the decision to choose which shift we prefer to have payed at the higher public holiday rate. The Sunday or the Monday.

I personally chose the monday as it's better to have 2 shifts at a higher penality rate, Sunday and Public Holidays than Public Holiday and Ordinary.

Sunday in NSW isn't a public holiday, only get the normal Sunday rates.

However, monday is double time and a half.

@TG_Fan: It's part of common courtousy to give 2 weeks minimum notice.

How the hell do people end up with 100 and 200 hours leave accrued? Am I the only person who takes time off whenever they feel like it for whatever reason, haha.
Lol.
Well in nearly four years (the most of which I've been PPT/Full time) I've taken like 5 or 6 weeks holidays total. So... sup >200 hours :p

The most i've ever done is 13 hour shift due to someone calling in sicka nd being unable to cover the shift .. only had my hr lunch breka as well T_T.
:(
My shortest shift so far this week has been 13 hours!

My leave atm:

A/L: 72.32 hours
S/L: 6 Days
Alt Days: 6
TOIL Days: 1
Yay I have 2 TOIL days.

115 hrs a week.... :(
115.5 hours/week.

Care to elaborate/vent?

I used to troll it often, actually applied for a few places (no one wanted me :( ) but now since I'm going away for two months in August, I can't exactly get a new job. Feel so locked in...
Allright, here goes. I was trying to follow someone else on this thread's (possibly mannequin, apologies if its not you) lead of not bitching too much, but yeah I can't help myself.

Lets start all the way back at yesterday. Yesterday I got a phone call asking me to supervise close tomorrow night. I said no. 2IC got all annoyed, but I though we were over that.
Fast forward to today.
SSM: So you're cool to get to *insert random store* tomorrow?
Me: WTF?
SSM: You're supervising close tomorrow night. At *random store*. Remember? I just wanted to check that you could get there and back.
Me: I'm not working tomorrow - I already told *2IC* that.
SSM: Well I already told them that you were doing it.
So apparantly I'm closing at another store tomorrow night that I had no knowledge of. I really wish I could have done it though, its a heaps smaller store and I'd like to see how it all works.

Now, back to around 12.30 today. I get a phone call asking me to come in early "we're absolutely desperate for a supervisor". I come in at 4pm (which is the absolute earliest I can get to work) to clean baskets for an hour.

Then I get told that despite having 13 perfectly good hours of annual leave, I have to take unpaid leave for next Saturday because my forms weren't signed in time. I call bullshit, but I wasn't really in a mood to argue.

Then I go on lunch, and come back to cop abuse from my SSM about how its all my fault that someone took a 25 minute tea break during my half hour lunch. Really, I didn't know I was a puppetmaster. I was of the understanding that people had brains at Woolworths, obviously I was sorely mistaken.

I come back from counting the envelopes in cash office to find that my 2IC has started doing spot checks for close (its 8pm, so we're still an hour from close). Thats not a problem until she leaves only two express lanes available at 8.25, and only one at 8.45. SOME DAYS I THINK THIS WOMAN IS INSANE. There was a queue of 9 people waiting for one express lane, and seriously she didn't see the problem. If I raise it, I'm being told that I'm stressing to much and its not my job to make decisions. So I leave express with a mounting line, but hey, thats cool, we have to get spot checks done. Its not like customer service is an issue for us or anything.
I then raised that with my SSM and although he listened and made excuses for her, the way he joked about it with my 2IC was disgusting. Yes I stress, yes I find it hard to focus, but generally I'm of the understanding that customers are the FIRST priority. Last week I was told by an area manager that seeing as four people were waiting at smokeshop with one person serving, I needed to call an express alert.
I cannot work with my 2IC these days. Its awful. She's the most kind hearted lady, but working with her is HELL.

Then I set the alarms off taking tills upstairs, and got a phone call from CMS. We're tight these days, haha.
Oh, and I still haven't texted the SSA from tonight to tell her we never found the $1000 that disappeared out of nowhere tonight.

RANT OVER. Sorry.

Question though, I know I'm being petty, but is there anything in any agreements or anything that would allow my CSM to give me 11-7 with an hour meal break at 4.30? It sucks in my eyes A LOT.

ok so i noticed there is those little card things above the PinPads about the debit/mastercard chq/savings no credit thing.
and the date its occurring is 5/5/2010.
is there a new Store release at this time, or is it purely a Pinpad change happening on that day? the reason im asking is cause im wondering how far away that optional receipt thing/the long-promised SCO fixes are??

does anyone know anything??

This is going to be annoying. CBA are the worst offenders at telling their MCD customers to only ever press credit.
I think its just the pinpad change, whenever there is a new store release of that nature all supervisors in my store have to do a team talk on it/

In the EBA, the meal break must be taken (given) within five hours of commencing the shift. Though nothing happens if you yourself choose not to take it until after (I often take my Saturday lunch at 13:00, having started at 7:00). I suppose you could take it up with CSM.
Its only a 7 hour shift, so it is a bit petty, but I'd like a decent lunch break. The way they split my shifts is awful on Saturdays, and its worse if I ever need hour long breaks.

Did he really come up to you and get you in trouble cause of me? As if it was your fault I took a 25 minute tea break. :p

Pretty funny though when he got pissed off at me all serious interrogating me:
"Have you been with Babikakez for her whole lunchbreak?"
"No"
"Willing to bet your job on it?"
"Sorry but gambling is against woolworths policy *cheeky grin*"

In all fairness though, on Saturday I missed my final tea break and my dept manager always takes a 20 minute tea break for a smoke so it was justified the length. At least if I keep telling myself that it makes it ok.

i dont really get the change.. so its people who have a Visa/Mastercard Debit Card - but instead of pushing chq/sav they press credit and sign for it? pretty stupid move by woolworths

ok thanks for that, i had a feeling thats all it would be... anyone with any inside knowledge when the store release is coming ;)

It will actually save the company lots of money.

When credit is pressed it goes through the visa/mastercard network.
When sav/chq is pressed it goes through the eftpos network.

The visa/mastercard network costs the company for every transaction, some places charge a credit card surcharge to cover this cost. Instead woolworths pays the fee without adding on the fee to the customer directly, but the fee is covered by shelf prices.

The eftpos network however costs the company considerably less. There is no surcharge on every transaction.

So if more payments are diverted through the eftpos network instead of visa/mastercard the cost of doing business is decreased.
