Geez, the scaling on MX2 and Philo must be more intense that I thought... My marks are incomparable to how well you guys have done, much less in many cases. Yet my ATAR is keeping up there in with the top ones. :\

In my opinion, scaling is a very unfair process.
Honestly, I think scaling is a very fair process. It ranks you with every other student in the state. So for example if you get 95 at a school that is coming 100th in the state, but someone from the top 10 schools gets 92, but if he/she studied at your school and sat for the same exam standard, then he/she would be getting 99.. And as such, that is not fair. Furthermore, scaling takes into account if school's exams are harder than another's, or another person's ranks are lower, because he/she is competing with the state's best, whereas another person might in really be average in the state, but coming 1st in his/hers school..

me too, someone in my year didn't get it
when i did it, it was a very... structured, expected interview. they asked you all the cliched questions, nothing too weird or wacky like unsw'd do haha
good luck!

They would have come first in every subject at their school.
Yeah, that's what I thought as well, since it's the most plausible explanation apart from mere coincidence. But I guess you'll have to ask the guy to confirm it though...cos that's pretty freaky (coming first in your school in both class assessments and HSC)

Yeah I came first in everything except adv eng, which I came a close second, it really surprised me but.

Chemistry - 88 + 93 = 91
English (Standard) - 89 + 88 = 89
Mathematics Extension 1 - 97 + 97 = 97
Mathematics Extension 2 - 92 + 95 = 94
French Beginners - 98 + 96 = 97

was a tiny bit disappointed with chem, but overall i'm STOKED =]
it's annoying being 1 mark of receiving a premier's award...
