i agree 100% with that.

do you have the option as a soldier to reject deployment to these wars?
You always have a choice.

Two Libyan air force jets landed in Malta on Monday and their pilots have asked for political asylum.

The pilots claimed to have defected after refusing to follow orders to attack civilians protesting in Benghazi in Libya.

The pilots, who said they were colonels in the Libyan air force, were being questioned by authorities in an attempt to verify their identities.

Meanwhile, a group of Libyan army officers have issued a statement urging fellow soldiers to "join the people" and help remove Muammar Gaddafi.

The officers urged the rest of the Libyan army to march to Tripoli.

most people in the combat elements currently (if not all) are there because they want to go overseas into a war zone. for whatever motives. i would like to just to experience the excitement etc shoot big guns and stuff. but im under no illusion that i would be a paid murderer.

its shit pay though
most are on like ~$57k with 2 weeks holidays a year and very limited choices of where they can live.

i know a few and they are either in there because they have some weird military fetish and want to serve their country or something or they want to go to afghanistan and shoot at cunts. then there are the rest who are all tradespeople and they are in there for a trade i guess

but its really super competitive so you have to be motivated to do it, ie not just doing it for the money

No, shooting at unarmed civilians is not the act of heroes. The two heroes from the Libyan Army are the two fighter pilots who refused to do that and flew to Malta instead and landed there instead of killing civilians.

Whether you agree with the wars in Afghanistan or Iraq or not, don't blame the soldiers there, they are only there because of our political governments and to try to protect stability and keep us safe in our own countries. We don't want another Vietnam where the soldiers were treated poorly upon returning home.

but you said that they were heroes for just doing their jobs

their jobs were to bomb the protestors so now they are also heroes for not doing their jobs, make up your mind

the SS-TV were just doing their jobs when they were manning the gas chambers, therefore they're heroes.

there is no difference between shooting an unarmed civilian and an armed one who are defending their land from invasion

why shouldnt we blame the soldiers? they made the choice to be there
they made the choice to enlist and to deploy overseas

You're an idiot.

There is a difference between fighting terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq as compared to genocide of your own people and innocent civilians.

"Soldiers are still heroes even if you don't agree with the war they are involved with, they are just doing their job "

do you know who said that?

'terrorists' in afghanistan and iraq are exercising their essential right to defend their land through any means neccessary from an external aggressor

SS-TV = soldiers
soldiers are heroes even if you dont agree with the war they are involved in, they're just doing their jobs
therefore
SS-TV (or any military force) are heroes for following their orders

but also
soldiers are heroes for not following their orders

i see

do you even think about what you say

There still has to be some personal responsibility beset upon the nomenclature of the individual and their mindset. Professional Australian soldiers know right from wrong. Any Australian thoguh should know that it is wrong to commit genocide and kill civillians. If you don't realize that zombie omie jay you are seriously screwed in the head. Belittling men and woman fighting to protect our country is terrible and you and your family should be ashamed. All Australians should be ashamed of you and you lacklustre quazicentric approach to the lives of the men and women working, risking their life to protect your life.

Are you saying you support the 9/11 terrorists, Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda? The war in Afghanistan was necessary to help weaken the terrorist forces.

There is a difference between terrorists and professional Australian soldiers in the Australian defense forces.

You are shaming your family. They will be embarrsed as a result of being related to you.

I'm saying professional Western Soldiers are heros regardless of whether me or you personally believe in the war our countries are in. German soldiers committing genocide or Libyan soldiers firing upon peaceful protestors are not heros at all. It comes down to common sense.

I completely agree, only "heroes" from the Australians military are the ones that protected this great country from the japs in world war 2. The others are just mercenaries including the ANZACs at galipolli.
