So will the HSC be more difficult than these papers? And I suppose everyone is less prepared for the trials than the real thing.

Trials tend to be more difficult than the HSC, though certain schools moderate or ever write their own exams. But if you can handle the CSSA trial, you'll be right in the HSC

Our school said it was a typo, and that you only had to find the find the volume of water in the tunnel.

so all we had to do was multiply the cross sectional area of segment by the height.

Same as ours. I stuffed up the question where you had to show that the area of the window was given by that equation. Arrgh. So many stuff ups

So then what was the point of giving us the rate of water flow? The question was a two marker so I'm assuming there was a second step to it.

it was ment to end at: find the volume of the tank (everything else is cancelled including flow rate)

If you're right then that's absolutely disgraceful. You'd think with a couple of hundred/thousand/idk students sitting the exam they'd actually bother to proof read it.
