It's debatable whether if marriage is even used properly, and it's arguable that the term 'marriage' and the aura and reverence I give it is moot because people are "marrying" their dogs or whatever in America or whatever country. In the end, I could accept if gays had 'marriage' (using that word), but I'd just prefer if they used another word - but I'm not fussed.

I'm just thinking, and brainstorming that we can use this opportunity to find a better word for same-sex marriage... like we came up with 'civil union', I'm sure we can figure out something much nicer.

Why is a difficult question... it's more a gut feeling. It's like... religion. You can't "prove" a religion, but it just feels right to you - so that's why you have faith in it.

I suppose it's just my upbringing and 13 years at a Christian school that makes me think: marriage = man and woman.

but then again we'd have to make more legislation to cover divorce law, as well as other areas of the law. This means that the people who are in the equivalent of marriages will have to be facing discrimination for at least a period of time, possibly even 20 years..
