I have just received the results to my Term 1 Maths (general) topic test worth around 15%. I got 36%, the class average been 59% and the highest been 77%, I went absolutely terrible. But here is my back story:
In the past 5 years of my high school life I chose the path to muck around and not concentrate in class, a terrible decision. Recently though, since the start of Year 12, term one I have chose to change my path and begin putting my head down and getting to work. I have got several compliments from my teachers mostly saying "I have seen a huge improvement in you this term and I want you to keep it up, your going really well and I'm impressed with you."
Well, this whole term I have been concentrating and completing all my work in class (For this example, maths). I have understood everything we have done in class having no problems at all. Still I managed to get only 36%, whereas other kids in my class that do not work at all, talking all lesson, get around 45%.
My maths teacher said to me "Although your mark is disappointing, I have notice a huge improvement in your class work. Don't let this bring you down as I know your capable of getting great marks."
I did not study for the maths topic test, reason mainly been I have never study in my entire school life but I'm willing to change that.
I want to know if I can still get a reasonable ATAR for university. (I'm not entirely sure what course I want to do at UNI)
And should I get a maths tutor?
Please help me.
Thankyou.
