Re: FAQ: Late Round Offers

Hey UACInfo, I've accepted and enrolled into my main round offer but have just received a late round offer at another institution. If I accept and enrol in my new offer does that mean I forfeit my main round offer?

Thanks.
Not necessarily if it's at different universities. You'll usually have to inform the uni for your main round offer that you want to withdraw. It's not automatic.

In the case of both being at the same uni, most unis won't allow you to be enrolled in two of their degrees at once.

HI asparagus,

@dittoo is correct.

If you've received an offer in the Main Round and accepted it, and then received an offer in the Late Round, you can either keep your previous offer and not accept your new offer or withdraw from your previous offer and accept your new offer.

Re: FAQ: Late Round Offers

Can you still be considered for late rounds if you accepted your first offer which was your first preference but you left it as your first preference and didn't change it ?

No. You had to put the other preferences in front for them to be considered.

For a popular course like that there would have been very few places on offer this round. So few that once those with 99.95 received an offer there were no more places left. Hence the cut-off.

Re: Alternative pathways to your desired university degree

As it is probably too late to get into a course this semester maybe you can start looking at midyear intakes.
Last year applications for midyear intakes started around May but you should check http://www.uac.edu.au/ and maybe sign up for their newsletters so you can be notified when applications open.

Check the uac facebook site http://www.facebook.com/universitiesadmissionscentre?sk=wall

TAFE dates in NSW'
https://www.tafensw.edu.au/about/calendar/

Most universities will have a page on their website indicating alternative pathways and any advanced standing you may get for prior study eg UWS has information at http://uws.clients.squiz.net/site/future_students_home/pathways-to-uws

If I have the money I would like to try this Languages Certificates and Diplomas at MQ focusing on Egyptian hieroglyphs. I find Egypt's history very fascinating. My world would be better if I can understand those scribbles I mean symbols they wrote in the year AD and BC.

Re: Alternative pathways to your desired university degree

you could do a bridging course. my sister just did her hsc but couldn't complete enough subjects for the atar and she wants to be a teacher. she's going to do a dip of arts at SIBT then go into BA of arts-education at macquarie. maybe you could look into that.

Re: Alternative pathways to your desired university degree

Is there any particular reason you don't want to or cannot do the HSC. It would probably be the least expensive way to get into university.

Check out doing the hsc at TAFE https://www.tafensw.edu.au/howex/se...tCourse&CourseNo=19361&selType=coursesResults

Also check out the website of the University you wish to attend. They will have a page showing the alternative pathways to their university.

For examples UWS has
Alternative Pathways to University
http://future.uws.edu.au/future_students_home/pathways-to-uws

and
Course Decision Day http://future.uws.edu.au/future_students_home/events_at_uws/course_decision_day

If you are in year 11 and want to go to uni, why not just do your hsc?

Re: Alternative pathways to your desired university degree

Don't forget that you can also do four subjects through Open Universities Australia (distance ed), which will get you right into a degree and take a semester off the course. I'm not sure it works for all subjects, but it definitely works for Arts subjects, teaching, etc. I don't see why it wouldn't work for law etc. www.open.edu.au

Re: Alternative pathways to your desired university degree

If you are concerned about getting into the course that is your main choice it is a good idea to make sure you have filled in ALL nine options.

It is a very good idea to watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIiyrjNcCcc&feature=player_detailpage

and check out information at

http://www.uac.edu.au/undergraduate/offers/

One alternative pathway is UWSCollege

You can find out more by visiting their stand at the UWS Course Decision Day

http://www.uws.edu.au/home/events/uws_course_decision_day

or attending their drop in sessions listed at

http://uwscollege.edu.au/mypathmychoice#1

You can read about their diplomas, which are equivalent to first year uni at

http://uwscollege.edu.au/course/local/diplomas

or foundations studies at

http://uwscollege.edu.au/course/local/foundation_studies

Re: Alternative pathways to your desired university degree

If you are concerned that your ATAR may not allow you to get into say UWS you should change your preferences to include the diploma by midnight on Fri 4 Jan for consideration in the Main Round

You can check last years ATAR for UWS and then scroll down the page to see the diplomas (which are equivalent to the 1st year of uni) offered in the different discipline areas.

Re: Alternative pathways to your desired university degree

is insearch or sibt better

they both guarantee entry into 2nd year after completion of diploma with sufficient marks right?
Afaik, yes. Depends entirely on whether you want to go to UTS or Macquarie.
