Lol that's just ridiculous.
I don't know about Coles, but I bet their system won't let cash out on credit just like ours wont let it.

That is one of those chain emails that people forward to each other all the time. I got sent it about three years ago... I bet snopes.com or one of those other such sites will have something about it.

Maybe it has been circulating for years, back when they used to offer cash out?

But I'd say it's made up.

I've made up a "bible" when I first started to supervising to help me understand what I had to do. So basically I just printed off a bunch of crap from Storenet and put it in a folder, it actual helped out another couple of supervisors, as well as my CSM when he first started doing it.

I also make up all forms of some sort, to make it look more "legit" when we're taking down customer's details.

For example:
View attachment 28018

We use this form to take down the customer's details, then we take it and put it into the computer when we're a bit quieter, and destroy the original. It's a lot quicker than having to load up the Everyday Portal and take their info.

I've also made up one for Everyday Rewards, so the customer can fill it out themselves. Again, it's much quicker than having to take the customer's details and put them in the computer. Might make one for the Britex/Rug Doctor hire sometime in the future.
You can actually download a legit mobile form online. More information can be found here. Since its actually an official form you could actually just sign it and put it in an envelope to be sent away.

has anyone else noticed the HOME timber and hardware, thrifty-link and plants plus logos are now on the all yours page?

I think I can smell a whole bunch of masters signs being made...

edit: apparently we've owned them since 2009... interesting.

It worked, thanks for the advice peeps :)

CSM gave me numbers and I look after the floor whenever my night super is counting or on break. It's interesting how quickly you can come across new situations or customer-related stuff, and I guess the only way to learn how to deal is to just have experience, documentation training can't cover everything.

Dealt with a faulty mobile phone thing yesterday. The guy brought back a Samsung phone that he bought hours ago and it wasn't charging at all. After some hassles with testing he eventually became enticed by other phones we had on display, so three phones later problem solved and the guy has a working phone. Note to everyone in my dept: do /not/ put phones back in boxes and sell them without all the parts!!

Does anyone have any tricks for counting coins in tills? I find it's the slowest part of my routine atm. I've seen some of the others drop two coins in at once but I'm really not sure how they grip everything and I'm cautious of all the coins slipping out of my hands and onto the floor.

I get all the coins in my right hand and grab a few at a time with my left hand and drop them. I grab 3 or 4 at a time and just add them up as I go.

i split them between hands and drop one from each hand together, counting by twos that way

sliding them out of the bunch in my hands with my thumb.

mine went through fine

that is weird Mathew. either you must have been specifically set to not be paid holiday rates, or the day was forgotten to be set at holiday rates.

(or there was some other glitch, not surprising given the ancient technology we have to work with)

There was a problem with our 'public holiday code' and now they're reversing the entire stores pays and manually redoing them lol

jesus, i figured that might have been it. because someone deliberately (or accidentally) making just you normal pay is unlikely.

that would be a pain, also all the costings they did for that week are probably all up the shit too. :D

Hi Im doing my first gap scan in the morning and I'm kinda in panic mode as its my understanding that there won't be anyone to help I forget a sequence of numbers when using the gun. I can remember how fo check overs by typing 5-5-5-1 into the gun, but I can't remeember the sequence for gap scanning, is anyone familiar?

Lol I try not to do a gap scan. But it's 5-5-7 on the gun.

To print off the report, go to ISIS on the computer, click Reports, from the drop down click "All Reports" then scroll through the list to find "Gap Scan". Then add your gun number to the list (say your gun number is 57, you'd scroll through, find "57 - krysys" and click >>

Then, make sure you change it to a detailed report, otherwise it will not print off! Then, obviously, click Print.

Isn't it 5, 5, 7? Something like that. If not, just go through the menus until you find it? Easy peasy.
Scan away, press esc and let it upload. Done.

Opening tomorrow, with only one operator from 8am-9:30am, then another operator comes on 9:30.

So two operators between 8-11:30.

Thankfully going on my lunch break at 11:30, then not supervising in the arvo.
