Ahh ok. Currently I have applied for UBS, McBurney & Partners (the firm ilikecats recommended) and HLB Mann Judd (which is now closed).

Anyone know which SHL practice tests I should take, before I take the online competency test for the UBS cadetship?

e.g. verbal reason and/or numerical reasoning and/or inductive reasoning and/or deductive reasoning and/or situational judgement test and/or quick cognitive test and/or motivation questionnaire and/or personality questionnaire etc?

Not sure about UBS specifically but i'd say verbal/numerical reasoning are a must and maybe even the situational judgement test.

In the situation where you can't find the name of a HR manager when applying to an accounting firm, how would you start your cover letter? (e.g. Dear ......)

annndd then put:

Hey current and past cadets from the Big 4. Generally what were/are your hours like? (I remember a lot of mid tier firms in the cadetship evening telling me that in the busy season the work hours at the Big 4 were really stretched).

I've been told this by many of my friends who work there (not sure about cadets specifically though but in general). Hours are around 8-9am starts and 7-8pm finishes for graduates/interns anyway. On really busy days, some of them have worked until midnight.
