As an existential nihilist I consider it silly to stress over achieving a high number in which I wouldn't let define me anyway. Life is inherently meaningless and the only purpose that it may have is subjective purpose... I want to experience happiness and pleasure, as opposed to a number.

It is the smart 'YOLO'.
I'd still rather live once with a band 6

if you can tell me what the questions were I'd tell you what I chose.
I was unsure about the one that wasn't source based (what hasn't been uncovered in H, I naturally choose the one that said the forum but idk)

everything else I think was right. (the food one was carbonisation ye?)

Pompeii/Herculaneum: doable, but it's noticeably getting harder and harder. The 10 marker questions are just getting more predictable too, yet in spite of this, it never occurred to me to revise on changing technologies. D'oh.

Sparta: 15 marks on economic activity in Sparta made me cry.

Akhenaten: part a) gave me PTSD, because at best you can say he was left out of family portraits, was trained to be a priest and possibly had a 2 or 12 year co-regency with Amenhotep III. Part b) however sent me cheering.

New Kingdom Egypt from 18th/19th Dynasty: Kadesh was 2012's question so I skipped a lot of the foreign relations crap, ended up doing Amenhotep III's question. Plus my trials predicted a question centred on him, so I was more prepared.

Overall - what the feck BOS that was not cool. Hopefully modern isn't like this :|

How did people run out of time? 3 hours is a long time.. Even though I had an idea as to what I was writing, I did get a little bored/tired towards the end, but I pushed myself to get around 3 to 5 pages for each question.

Did the Julio-Claudian 25 marker second after Pompeii just because I knew that was the one where most marks would be concentrated. It's quite hard to memorise not only the quotes but also who said them, so I ended up just putting the actual quote and then a random historian (usually Tacitus) next to it as the source. D:
P&H was pretty good actually, though I was probably a bit too general in the 10 marker. I talked about the CAT scan of the body but couldn't remember its name.
Minoan Crete was alright, again I may have been too general. Phaestos threw me, but I talked about the disk and a palace (hoping there was actually a Palace of Phaistos?!)
Alexander was good. For the 15 marker I talked about his successes in expanding Greek culture and the unification and hellenization of the known world as it was then, and also Alex's military prowess influencing the strategies and ability of the Macedonian army in generations to come.

Overall I think it was okay. The questions weren't that hard if you studied, though due to the amount of content, it was hard to specialise certain areas of your own knowledge and go off the chance that they'd be in the exam.

the 25 mark essay had no idea, but the rest was okay i suppose it wasn't that bad. yet still that paper was worse than the catholic trials exam and any other exam.
