:wavey:

A rhombus with vertices A (1,6) B (6,6) C (-2, 2) and D (x, y)

Find coordinate of D.

I attempted question using distance formula and simultaneous equations but the x and ys kept cancelling each other out.

The y is 2 (same as co-ord C and drawing the rhombus)
The X is -2+5=3 (length of side is 5. again, using the coord of C and drawing the rhombus)
hence coordinate is (2,3)

Re: A rhombus with vertices A (1,6) B (6,6) C (-2, 2) and D (x, y)

Find the midpoint of B(6,6) and C(-2,2) (two opposing vertices)
This midpoint should also be the midpoint of A(1,6) and D(x,y) and you can find it from there
Just looking at it, I think D should be (3,2)

Re: A rhombus with vertices A (1,6) B (6,6) C (-2, 2) and D (x, y) ??

The question is not specified well enough. There are three possible scenarios.
Is the rhombus called ABCD, ABDC or ADBC?

Assuming it is ABCD:

A to B is +5 units horizontally.
So D to C is also +5 units horizontally.
So D is (-7,2).

Re: A rhombus with vertices A (1,6) B (6,6) C (-2, 2) and D (x, y)

D has the same y value as C, 2
-2 + 5 = 3 (length is 5)
The coords of D are (3,2)

It can't be ABCD.
AB=AC=5 but BC=4sqrt5.

So BC must be a diagonal, making D (3,2) , which is 5 units to the right of C.
