is having back to back tutorials a big deal? I have one in my new timetable and i really don't want to change because it would mean coming all the way out to UNSW for 1 hour on Friday, a day i would otherwise have free

Depends where the tutorials are located? If close by then shouldn't be an issue?

Just a few things on the timetables I have seen above.

Don't put tutorials back to back. Some tutorials will have exams or homework in them and if you need time off before the tutorial to do something then you don't want to have a tutorial right before it.

Having a lecture before a tutorial is ok because you can skip a lecture in the worst case and possibly watch it later, read the notes or do your own self study to make up for it. Tutorials have a lot of vital information that you might not pick up on otherwise and also some of them mark attendance and might have compulsory attendance requirements in the case that you need to re sit a final exam (case in point MATH1XY1).
In your case it would be worth putting them back to back though. Definitely not worth going in to uni just for a one hour tutorial.

This too so you won't have a travel issue.

Back to back tutorials can be hard if you have to do a presentation or something, but reality is, this is unlikely to happen more than once or twice in a semester. There's also nothing stopping you from asking your tutor (who probably takes multiple sessions of the same tutorials) if you can attend a different session if you have something on that week (such as a presentation in the next tutorial which requires you to be there early and set up). Remember tutors are usually quite understanding but it helps to be on good terms with them.

Depends how far the rooms are. If it's far apart, yes it could be a problem.
