I'll add to this that you're more flexible in having a digital copy of your notes as you can access it on more places your phone, laptop, etc. if you don't have a hard-copy.personal opinion, and saying one is better than the other would create arguments. Typing has the advantage that you can edit easily and make things very neat, you can easily include diagrams, and do color coding and similar stuff. Writing has the advantage that some people find it easier to learn from writing out things. However it can't be edited as easily, will become a huge pile and you can lose papers very easily. And if i were you, i would make HSC notes rather than prelim notes. Just use someone else's notes for prelim and start making detailed notes for the HSC course.
