If I chose the following subjects for my HSC:
Economic, Chemistry,Physics ,2 unit maths and advance English. If I did very well in all these subjects, how much chance I would have to in medicine college?
How much better for me if I add ext 1 English to the subjects that I chosen?
How much better for me if I choose ext 1 English and ext 2 English instead of advance English and add them to the subjects that I chosen?
Awaiting your opinion.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.:cook:

Don't ask what subjects you should do, only you know what you can and are capable of doing, doing extension 2 English doesn't guarantee you will get a 99+ ATAR, do what you enjoy and are willing to learn and getting good marks will be much easier. Medicine requires 99+, 99.95 to be guaranteed and UMAT so if I were to give a recommendation it would be to at least ext 1 English due to its good aligning as well as biology since it is useful for your degree. Do chem too, and keep it to 11 units in year 12.

If your school/you perform well in the respective subjects then these subjects are "good" to choose.

You will also need to perform very well in umat to in order to get into most medical courses within Australia.

Let's just clear one thing up here.

Unlike maths, where you do not do 2U if you do Ext 2, this is not the case with English

Maths pathways:
1. 2U Mathematics (2 units)

2. 2U Mathematics (2 units) + Ext 1 Mathematics (1 unit)

3. Ext 1 Mathematics (2 units) + Ext 2 Mathematics (2 units)
_________________

English pathways

1. English Advanced (2 units)

2. English Advanced (2 units) + Extension 1 English (1 unit)

3. English Advanced (2 units) + Extension 1 English (1 unit) + Extension 2 English (2 unit)

Picking harder levels of English for the sake of your ATAR without the underlying passion and dedication supported with high English marks during junior year (I believe English classes were separated into levels during Year 9/10 for me so I knew the level I was working at and what my marks meant) is pointless.

I recommend speaking to your English teacher about the recommended English level you should be taking.

Any subjects are good. You need to ensure you perform exceptionally well in that UMAT as well as your ATAR. And unless you're naturally gifted (not saying you aren't - you may as well be) in academical intellect, there is no way you can get such a high score(s) unless you are passionate about the subjects you take.
