While the disparity between your internal and external HSC marks is a major concern, what I find most flawed about NESA’s education system is that it promotes a negative learning environment. Specifically for the first two semesters before trials students are incentivized to rival and beat other students in school based assessment tasks in order to attain a higher overall HSC mark as 50% of your final mark depends on your school rank. IMO, school should be more of a collaborative effort which promotes peer support and sharing of notes (not gatekeeping) rather than have every student chase and attempt to climb over each other in terms of ranks.

Perhaps NESA could implement a system in which your HSC internal mark is either your external mark or the mark based on your rank in school depending on which is higher.
perhaps they could implement a time proven and reliable fair method, instead of trying to be such a special nerdy snowflake - they could make 100% marks come from external exams.

My school is also a dumb school. There also was an abrupt jump in difficulty from year 10 to preliminary math advanced. Year 7-10's curriculum doesn't have to be standardised, therefore schools follow their own curriculum and choose to do either 5.1 or 5.3 to cater for the average students ability, with smarter schools doing 5.3 or extension math content in year 10 like james ruse. My school only did a bit of 5.3, never touching circle geometry and polynomials.
that effects your externals more than internals though? going to a low ranked school isnt a thing unique to just you. just take the L and move on

thats stupid as fuck though. a lot of skills cant be tested in hsc. also how is nesa meant to estimate ur mark if ur sick during ur hsc mark. internals show that ur able to make a consistent effort, unis like that.

how exactly does this "time proven and reliable fair method" benefit you in any way. You have ur exam in 11 days stop being a butthurt little snowflake and affect change into something that can actually affect ur result 💀

it's a much better system clown. Imagine if you were in america, you would be crying too if you had to do extra curriculars and all that other bull shit without any standardised testing beside the joke that is SAT just to get into a good uni, they are in a much worse situation than us. This is how I feel about the hsc.
