I know a lot of people really bag out MQ Law, but if you feel confortable with it, then it is the right choice.
I mainly didnt do medical science because I decided not to try and go for medicine again. My ATAR and UMAT were nowhere near good enough to get into med and I realise that last year I put in my best effort. So realistically, my chances of making medicine via medical science are extremely low (the competition is crazy intense).
Overall, if you have some interest in law you will enjoy it. Law is now becoming a much more general degree, with around 40% of graduates never becoming practicing lawyers (many law/commerce graduates do law just to boost their employment prospects in the business field). So it is a really useful degree if you want to work in business (it works really well with majors such as management, economics, finance etc)
I dont like law mainly because it is not what I wanted to do. I really had a passion for medicine (since year 7) and in comparison to that, law doesnt come close. At the moment I'm thinking about pursuing a career in the ambulance service, but I'm really not to sure.
In terms of the "prestige" of your university, you would be suprised how many law firms dont really care. My mum works as a secretary for one of the top 4 law firms in the country and she has introduced me to the lawyer in charge of hiring graduates. She told me that the uni you come from doesnt mean anything to them. She said they look at marks but mainly your personality (whether they believe your a team player) and your extra cirriculars. Obviously that isnt the case at every firm, but it was suprising to me considering that most people think "if you dont go to Usyd or UNSW, you wont be able to get a good job"
As your doing quite a few humanities subjects you should be fine in law (advanced english is useless for law in my opinion). Whilst legal studies can give you an advantage in criminal law and introductory law subjects, you wont be at a disadvantage by not having done it.
Law is about as difficult as you want it to be. If you want D's and HD's it can be much harder and more intense then the HSC, but if your aim is passes and credits, then it is easier. For me law is extremely hard because I dont like it at all (in fact I hate it) and as such, I have no motivation for it. If you have a passion for it and it is what you really want to do, then you will find it much more enjoyable and interesting.
In standard, it will be based on your external performance. I think its likely that you will get a band 5, but how high or low will really depend on the externals. One thing working in your favour is that at a lot of selective and other high ranking schools they dont offer standard (not 100% sure on this).
Dux is the award a school gives to the "highest academic achiever" in year 12. Each school has its own different way of working it out (at mine, the person with the highest ATAR was dux). Less than 5% of people get 80+ in standard, which is why I always estimate people who do standard a bit lower.

True, but dont forget 48% of the people who sit 2 unit maths get 80+. Whilst your chances of getting 80+ arent the best, its still very much a possibility given your ranking alone.
Yes you probably will, just try and get mid band 5 for both and band 6's elsewhere, that should be enough I reakon for 95+.
I reakon 93.5 - 95.5. I reakon standard might drag you down as well as maths to a lesser extent.
Haha nice man! I haven't gone to any open days, my school has 2 sets of trials, CSSA+School set trials, so I'm in the middle of them atm, and they weigh so much more than the CSSA. ARGH! lol

I don't do economics anymore, I dropped it
. However, the highest for economics in my school was like 93. Alot of kids got in the 80s, there was an 89, 87 etc. A few 70s as well and a couple 60s. The lowest was 61.
Considering economics scales very well, I think my grade did exceptionally in economics, lol there all rubbing it into me for dropping it, but I didn't like the teacher in year 11...didn't count on them getting a new awesome teacher for year 12 though xD Ah well...
