Advanced mathematics at usyd and unsw

Yes this is little, and yes this is normal. No. First of all, MUCH MORE THAN 30 people get into the TSP. There were about 100 in my cohort. TSP spans all science schools. Secondly, you don't have to be doing B Science (Advanced Mathematics) to a TSP project in maths. You could be doing B...

    Bachelor of Science and Technology

Umm, sorry to burst your bubble, but... "Further information about the new degree will be available from March 2009 on the University’s website", and it is already april. According to this link form the 'university website' (Faculty of Science Degrees and Majors - Future Undergraduate Students...

    Bachelor of Science and Technology

Re: Bachelor of Science and Technology (Physics and Engineering) B.S.T isn't a combined degree. To become an accredited engineer you need to take a further 2 years to essentially complete a BE anyway, so why not take a BSc/BE? It would take the same time to complete but you'd have much more...

    Math1001 quiz

The university doesn't publish or hand out worked solutions, so unless you're asking someone on this forum to type out all the answers just for you... I suggest trying your best at it and ask your tutor to go through what you've done with you, or the lecturer during the consultation hours...

Advanced mathematics at usyd and unsw

Of course UNSW has restrictions like this - it has a UAI cut-off, no? Whether UNSW has an intake of 10, 20, or 100 is immaterial and shouldn't worry you, because you can't do anything with that information. For example, if there are 10 places available, and 9 have been taken, how will you get...

    Major in Neurology or pharmacology?

Neuroscience units are listed under the physiology section of the handbook, so I'm guessing that they might contribute to a physiology major as well. Neuroscience/neurology is just a specialisation within the general study of physiology and so is 'closer' to it. Since you can only study...

Can i do physics (Fundamentals) in the 2nd year?

There's no reason why you can't.

psychology or a major in psychology

If you aren't planning on continuing with postgraduate clinical psychology, I would recommend a major/minor in psychology rather than doing the Bachelor of Psychology. You'd have much more flexibility in your course options if you just took a major in psych, rather than committing to the BPsych...

    MATH1004 vs. MATH1005

In my opinion, MATH1005 was absolutely the worst subject I took in first year. Statistics really didn't catch my interest at all, and the mundane lecturers didn't help. Just before semester began I switched from MATH1004 to MATH1005, and it is a decision which I regret.

    Advanced Mathematics !

No. You have a small set of preparatory questions that they recommend you complete before each tutorial. During the tutorial you complete the set of questions given (by the way, these questions alone ARE in fact available online free of charge, but the lecture notes aren't). You finish what...

    Math 1901. Biol 1003. Phys 1002.

Definitely, but let me explain. I spent less hours revising and studying for the subject, but the hours I DID spend on the subject were nonetheless of good quality. I spent less hours because I had already encountered most of the topics in year 12.. It was easy to get full marks in both quizzes...

    Math 1901. Biol 1003. Phys 1002.

Just to give some of you an idea on scaling, I left just less than half of the final exam blank in MATH1901 (advanced) and still managed to get an 84. I found MATH1902 even harder and thought I was going to fail for sure given how many questions I left blank, but received an 80. In second...

    Math 1901. Biol 1003. Phys 1002.

Re: :S subject reviews MATH1901 assignments are quite simple and straightforward. There are only 2, each worth 5% of your total mark, and it is easy to achieve full marks. Most of the class were getting 9/10 and 10/10. Physics Fundamentals only has one formal take-home project on buoyancy...

Faculty Permission for Enrolling in Advanced Biology Units

Yeah, technically you were supposed to go to the first year biology office and have Katie Jakes sign off a permission form, which you were then to bring back to the faculty office so they could change your enrolment from regular to advanced... BUT, thanks to this 'different person' who enrolled...

    Reasons for taking advanced units

Well, top students may find that they aren't being challenged in a regular/normal unit, and take advanced units to suit their level of ability. Advanced units have the added benefit of a greater diversity of topics covered that are often more interesting, and in some cases provide alternative...
