SOFT subjects (the easy way out) . Your thoughts?

It is a fair system (for the most part - the fact that English is compulsory is unfair, but that's another matter entirely). English AOS has exactly the same scaling, because it is treated as the one subject. English modules advanced scales higher than standard modules. They _are_ scaled the...

SOFT subjects (the easy way out) . Your thoughts?

[1]I believe the moderation process for each is almost identical. It SHOULD be relatively the same amount of work (albeit easier) to get a band 5 or 6. A smarter cohort may mean that they are less likely to moderate your raw mark to a higher mark, as it puts you too close to the people who...

SOFT subjects (the easy way out) . Your thoughts?

 In advanced you need to perform well in AOS and (advanced) modules... Standard English is easier, that's kinda the point of it being "standard" and all.

    banned form study

I'd hate to imagine what sort of physical torture you undergo in your study, but it's probably best to stop...

How many words can you write in a 40min essay?

About 800 comfortably... Should be about 6 HSC exam pages which is the expected quantity as stated on BOS. Edit: *High 5s above poster*

    Top 'speed' done and where?

At which point you'd have infinite mass, fatty.
  7. I

Anyone else done subjects they regret doing?

No, you have to complete the Preliminary course to do the HSC course. She means she did Chem and music in year 11, but dropped music when she wishes she dropped chem. Should be like that at every school as it's board policy.

SOFT subjects (the easy way out) . Your thoughts?

You're completely right. Clearly a 90 in Biology is worth the same as a 90 in Maths Extension 2. *facepalm* Seriously though, it takes 5 seconds to punch numbers into SAM and see obviously that certain subjects add more to your aggregate for a given mark than others (scaling). Clearly you are...

    Band 6 in Physics

^ Yes, but a subject is only called a band 6 based on your performance in the final exam (See the UAC Scaling report): Imagine 2 physics students both with a final mark of 90: Exam Mark: Moderated Assessment Mark: Band: 91---------------89----------------------------------6...

If you fail a subject do u still get ur HSC??

That is NOT a fail. Getting <50% is a fail in uni when you have to repeat a course and pay more money to do it, not in high school. Don't know why everyone seems to think that 50% is always the pass or fail cutoff. Fail in the HSC is an N award for not meeting the requirements of the course...

SOFT subjects (the easy way out) . Your thoughts?

    What about category B subjects?

Can I Still Drop A Subject If I Have More Than 10 Units?

Pretty sure you won't... Not as individuals (see the moderation explanation sticky in the technical forum). You will definitely bring your school average down though.

Can u successfully complain abt sumthing they tested thats not in syllabus?

Amphoteric means it can act as an acid or base. Amphiprotic means it can donate or accept a proton (ie. obey Bronsted Lowry definitions of acid and bases). That means all amphiprotic substances are amphoteric (not necessarily vise versa though). For the question, if you proved it was...

    LOL TRIAL exam was LOST.

How the hell do you leave the hall with an exam paper in your hands? That's pretty crappy supervision by the school.

Thoughts on CSSA Physics 2008 Paper

Quantisation was something that Planck did after Hertz, so I'd say B. It's definitely not C, his experiments would've had to incorporate A, IMO and D - well superposition was probably what resulted in various radio waves he did. Edit: Nice mark benji. I know it varies from year to year, but for...

Thoughts on CSSA Physics 2008 Paper

Maybe C? A - Reliability? B - Completely wrong C - Validity, on the principle that correct procedure should result in correct findings, hence valid. D - Accuracy?

    Top 'speed' done and where?

Consider it a bogan celebration, they can speed and use the internet - something that was once only the bogan dream.

    Explanation of HSC Marks (Moderating)

Or looking at it differently, moderating works VERY well for you, because you are guaranteed a good assessment mark if you screw up somewhat in the exams.

    Explanation of HSC Marks (Moderating)

Just trying to get the basics down first...
