    People who are specialized

some people say specialising is good coz you use the same way of thinking, and if you're good at one subject, then you're normally good at the others as well... personally i think that doing subjects that are totally different would allow you to get away from doing the same thing all the...

    Is it worth doing?

You don't actually need 8 extra hours of study per week to pass... A lot of people do way less than that (i.e. less than 2 hours per week) and still manage to get >90% Fruitcake05, I'd say if you're pretty good at maths, it's worth doing because at least it'll make your 3u count as two...

    girls doing ext 2?

Well, in my class of 23, we have 10 girls. Provided with the fact that only about 30 - 40% of the grade are girls, that's actually quite a lot. There's also another 4u class at my school, though I dunno whether they have this many girls or not...

    Extended Technique for D.B??

perhaps slap pizz, Bartok pizz, bowing on the tailpiece, scratching on the strings with fingernails, slamming with fingers (left hand) on the strings without bowing, double- or triple-stopping etc? I play the double bass, but can't think of more from the top of my head... Will add more later...

Future Plans: What ATAR/course/job are you aiming for?

USyd Haven't decided whether I should do Liberal Studies (International) or Arts (Languages) yet, coz it seems like I could do the same stuff in both degrees I'm planning to major in French Studies, Psychology, and either Italian or Music

USYD Lib Studs or UNSW Arts/Science ?

if by saying "overseas" you mean going to the States, then the liberal studies degree would definitely be recognised, because it's a 4-year degree course... certain other countries offer liberal studies degrees, so i suppose it'll be recognised as well as far as arts is concerned, i've heard...

    The question we all hate

I'm thinking of doing either psychology or neuroscience but I think I'm more on the psychology side, juz coz the career outcomes are better... and that way I still get to do similar subjects at the moment I'm thinking of doing research work after I finish the degree, but I think it's always...

    HELP!! French Ext

    Extension Music-MUSICOLOGY

I'm doing musicology both for my 2u elective and for extension... I've already decided on the topic for 2u, but still thinking which one to choose for extension. What I think is, in extension the teacher wouldn't be of much help, coz you gotta do all the research youself anyway You should...

    Music Theory

Well, I've done ABRSM theory up to grade 8 I find it rather useful when it comes to aural and musicology stuff in Music 2 Coz when I did grade 8 I had to read a lot of books about different periods and the key composers, and I did heaps of score analysis - which teaches you heaps about harmony...
