with the original question we had this question in a 3U exam asking for the poly. with roots a^2, b^2,c^2 given a poly with roots a, b, c. Really easy question for a 4U person but really hard for a 3U.
The easiest way to do it is:
X^2-A^2>0
Try to think of this as a parabola.
The parabola cuts the x axis at A and -A and is concave up
Therefore, X>A or X<-A
The actual syllabus dot point says "outline the steps in the production of polyethylene as an example of a commercially and industrially important polymer"
