    Science in 2004

Yes, by picking 2 advanced subjects at enrolment u automatically qualify to be an advanced sci student anyway.
  2. U

    Science in 2004

    I agree :p
  3. U

    Science in 2004

No, but it depends on the subjects u do. In physics there is mostly guys, in chemistry its 50/50, and in maths its 50/50 (since maths is compulsory for all in first year).
  4. U

    chicks at unsw..

Go Usyd. In my accounting tute last year there were 20 chicks, and then there was me and some other guy who couldn't speak english.

    Juggling preferences

I think if u are situated far enough away from uni u get an advantage of a max 2 UAI points when aplying for a course, that is only if the course hasn't been filled completely by others above the cut-off for the course.
  6. U

So who got in? And what Course?

U can still do a commerce subject as your 4th elective in first year. Even if u did sci/comm you would study 3 science subjects, and the fourth would be a junior commerce unit anyway. At the end of the year u can transfer and you won't be disadvantaged at all.
  7. U

    Science in 2004

It was interesting that science/commerce jumped so much at Usyd to 97.3, even higher than that at UNSW. Most of Usyd's other courses with UAI's>90 remained relatively stable though.

    Juggling preferences

How did u manage to get your 1st preference when u scored lower than the cut-off? Anyway, u should accept the offer and u can still do an engineering subject in your 4th subject elective in the adv science course program. Then u can transfer at the end of the year.

    unsw or usyd?

Nah I don't regret it at all. For me I realised either uni was good for the degree I wanted so it came down to other factors. Personally I liked the Usyd environment and atmosphere so much more than UNSW which I felt was too claustorophobic.
  10. U

    2004 uai cutoff for commerce??

I'm guessing 95.4 with a deviation of 0.2 either side.
  11. U

    unsw or usyd?

Same for me except I changed from UNSW to Usyd 2 minutes before applications closed.
  12. U

    question bout dentistry

To study dentistry u must first study a degree (not necessarily science), and u must do reasonably well in it. I think u prob need a high credit avg or something.
  13. U

    Law @ Macq

That is completely false. In fact for Accounting 1 B at Usyd only 0.78% of students got a HD, and the next 7% got D's out of a canditure of 750. It is extremely hard to get a HD in commerce subjects at Usyd, even a D because so little of them are given out and there is a very high level of...
  14. U

    i need help...seriously

Although I don't study arts, I believe that u could study chinese studies otherwise that would be discriminatory.
  15. U

    unis?

It doesn't matter what uni you go to, but as others have pointed out, it's how well u go in your course. There is hardly any difference between Usyd and UNSW in terms of commerce and economics in Australia. People think that because the cut-off for commerce at UNSW is higher than Usyd, then this...
  16. U

    Science in 2004

Actually it's a mixture of applied maths and pure maths in first year. U study 12 credit points of maths in first year, namely differential calculus, linear algebra, integral calculus, and Statistics (or discrete maths). Yeah the maths does assist with the comm degree, even though the maths...
  17. U

    A few random questions...

Go to Usyd, the law their is better and economics is the same at Usyd or UNSW
  18. U

Which is the best uni for business/commerce/economics?

U would only go to macq if u were intending to study actuarial studies, which has a better rep than that of UNSW. If u wanted to study a commerce degree u would go to USYD or UNSW, macq doesn't have a very good comm rep.
  19. U

Which is the best uni for business/commerce/economics?

There really is no difference except that UNSW offers more majors that Usyd doesn't offer namely actuarial studies and international business. The cut-off for commerce at Usyd for 2004 will prob rise from 94.5 to 95.x and may even overtake the cut-off at UNSW as Usyd are cutting back on the...
  20. U

Which is the best uni for business/commerce/economics?

Yeah, UNSW commerce only has a slightly better rep than Usyd in south-east asia, but not in other countries like America.
