    Trig identities!

It's not necessary to learn the double angle formulas though. If you know cos(x+y) and sin(x+y), you'll be able to find out cos(2x) and sin(2x). After a while of writing them, you'll just learn them (that's what I did). I assume when you say "everything related to them" to also know what...

ITT we help examine to get 85 in his Maths extension 1 yearlies so he can do 4 unit

Re: ITT we help examine to get 85 in his Maths extension 1 yearlies so he can do 4 un Oh right, I get it. Yeah our teacher decided to go over it actually, but did say that it wasnt part of the 3U syllabus but it was studied in 4U. Seems a bit easy for 4U though

ITT we help examine to get 85 in his Maths extension 1 yearlies so he can do 4 unit

Re: ITT we help examine to get 85 in his Maths extension 1 yearlies so he can do 4 un Sorry if I'm going backwards here, but can someone explain what to do when the degree of "x" in the numerator is greater than the degree of "x" in the denominator? I know it's something to do with expanding...

    Estimation for my ATAR.

IF all the ranks were the same but the school rank was ~210, what would you estimate the ATAR to be?

    Estimation for my ATAR.

ooh, I'm interested in this. Can anyone estimate?

How are you going to transition to year 12? What are you going to change?

I agree with this guy. You can say this all you want, but not procrastinating requires a slow change (not something you can generally do overnight). Want proof? Look at all the Year 12's on this forum :P

How long does it usually take for a class to cover all of that?

how much extra study is really needed for 4u?

hashtag/ you made me lol /hashtag But yeah, screw English up and you screw your chance of getting a good ATAR.

how much extra study is really needed for 4u?

Eh, good point. E4 was what I meant.

how much extra study is really needed for 4u?

    70%... isn't 70% a pretty decent mark though? I thought it could get a band 6.

how much extra study is really needed for 4u?

It's a shame that understanding the concept is only a half of the work, the other half is applying it and everything else learnt to challenging questions... But anyway, fionarykim, by no means am I "talented" at maths however I am going to give 4U a go if my teachers allow me to attempt it. I...

how much extra study is really needed for 4u?

Yeah, which is why generally just asking people on the net isn't VERY useful as the person on the other side just has no clue as to the person's abilities. I am indeed thinking of doing 4u next year, not really worried about the workload though (willing to study). What I'm most worried about is...

how much extra study is really needed for 4u?

But having said that, I hear that you're crazy smart at Maths and so YOU probably won't need to study much [doing BSc (Adv Maths) and all]. Is that for the "average" people? If someone is getting around 80's in ext 1, will the time still hold? What about for someone getting in the 70's?

    Some Prelim help, please?

Find the midpoint of AB, that gives you the centre of the circle. Then just use the equation of a circle (x-h)^2 + (y-k)^2 = r^2, where h,k is the centre of the circle.

    Dropping a subject

Dropping geo. Oh I cannot wait to be rid of it! Perhaps may also drop Engineering if I do well in MX2.

    Maths 2U vs. Maths 3U

2 unit is calculus based. What is 3 unit and 4 unit then? I would assume 3 unit to be trig, but what about 4 unit?

    Ranking

Number of D.A.'s in 2011 Chem: 4 out of 55 Physics: 2 out of 65 MX1: 15 out of 26 MX2: 3 out of 4 Eng Adv: 5 out of 180 The total number of people in each subject is just a guess according to my current year, but should be somewhat right.

    Integral Question

Ah yes that's what I meant. Sorry, it's the first time I'm doing integration and I'm still trying to properly understand the new terms.

    Integral Question

Ohhhh I just expanded again and I saw where I went wrong. According to what I had put down, x3 * x3 = x9... I'll have to make sure I keep in mind that you cant differentiate brackets in such questions unless it's linear. Thanks guys!
