    Hair straightening

It takes me ages to straighten my hair though... 2.5 hrs a time, pisses me off. I want to wake up and not have to deal with it...

    Hair straightening

Thanks, I spoke to them but they were asking close to a grand. Anyone able to recommend a place in Sydney then where it can be done for around $300?

    Hair straightening

Has anyone had their hair permanently straightened up here on the Central Coast? Where did you get it done, how much did it cost? Would you recommend it? I dunno where to go to get it done. Alternatively, a decent mid-range salon in Sydney, if there isn't anywhere on the coast. cheers.

Which subjects ensure a higher scaling?

If you do extremely well in all your subjects, you won't have to concern yourself with scaling at all and your desired high UAI will come.

UAI predictions- how accurate were we?

I moved back to Aus at the start of year 11 and I was just told to pick a bunch of subjects, so I chose ones that sounded interesting. I had no clue what scaling was and it all worked out fine. Yeah, the HSC is a game, you have to know how to work the system to your advantage (read: not...

    Motivation during school holidays

A quote if you're into tough love and working through anger, instead of praise and encouragement: "Getting a bad UAI isn't the end of your life, just the start of a shit one"

    Deferment + options

This year I'm going on a high school exchange to Germany for a year and then I'll be off to uni in 2007. Is it possible to apply for scholarships later this year for the course I defer? Would I still be counted as a school leaver? Basically, I didn't think I'd do so well last year and didn't...

The Education Access Scheme is BS

That's what I'm saying though, you have done well with little assistence and that's admirable. My comment is with the people who aren't prepared to put in any of that self-tuition and instead blame their poor marks on a crap school, failing to acknowledge that it's mostly up to you.

The Education Access Scheme is BS

Far too many people are quick to blame their school when a substaintial amount of effort could have compensated for poor resources and not such good teaching. And hell, if you didn't have a very bright year, it should have been even easier to get top rankings in your subjects, which mean you can...

The Education Access Scheme is BS

If you wanted to do well in that shit school, you could have. I think dj is just as, if not more so deserving of eas.

    26hrs...

So a normal arts degree wouldn't help pay for the exchange? Damn. The double degree was ahead in my mind, now it's dead even again. I'd be deferring, so I probably wouldn't be in your classes anyway - what languages will you be studying?
  12. elisabeth

    UAIs and WAM?

Yep, that's right. It's my second preference at the moment, the double degree is my first and I think I'll keep it that way. Thanks Minai and fleep.

    UAIs and WAM?

Say I wanted to transfer from a B Arts / B Science at USyd to B Arts (languages) at USyd (which had a 2005 cut-off of 97.25). I've heard it goes on 50% UAI (mine was 99.65) and 50% WAM - so what kind of WAM (credit/D range?) average am I looking at to get a new UAI high enough to transfer?
  14. elisabeth

    26hrs...

Really? But I asked some woman today and she said you can do exactly the same courses in the B Arts (languages) as the B Arts side of the double degree - obviously there's a difference of a year or so though. How hard are first year science subjects compared to the HSC courses?
  15. elisabeth

    26hrs...

Oh shit, yeah, do we have until midnight tonight or midnight tomorrow?
  16. elisabeth

    26hrs...

Anyone else still stuck about what order their preferences will be? I'm debating between: B Arts / B Science at UNSW B Arts / B Science at USyd B Arts (languages) at USyd See, I definately want to do languages, so an arts degree... but the other day I thought about adding in a...

People who did all 2 unit subjects

Yeah... hence I said "almost" any UAI. But aside from that, you can get 95, even 99 or more with any subject patterns.
  18. elisabeth

People who did all 2 unit subjects

Yeah - bio, geog, adv eng, german cont, general and modern - 99.65. You can get almost any UAI with any subject patterns.

UAI predictions- how accurate were we?

I never psoted about a UAI prediction, but at the end of year 11, I thought I could work towards 97.4, but ended up getting 2.25 more than that. After I got my HSC results, SAM predicted 99.65, which is exactly what I got. :)

i got 30 uai can i still make it to UNI

:( I was pissy, then I read how you'd been enjoying yourself having a nice swim, and I cursed my fair complexion even more. *off for a swim now* Yeah, repeating the HSC is another option you might consider. What was your exact UAI?
