stuff you do at uni when you're meant to be paying attention

+ draw people in the margins + waste time illustrating nice headings, instead of taking the notes that are meant to go under the headings + read books + sleep (it takes practice to stay upright -- i.e. without your head rolling over to the side) gah, i hate people who leave their phones on...

    Art Theory revision for HSC

i just revised a few cast studies, and tried to lear as much as i could about some of my favourite artists, so i could use their works in different contexts. then do as many pracice questions as you can -- the first section is easy, cos you can just do a few questions here and there without...

    electioneering

vertigo this year was being run by a bunch of writing/journo students, like it usually is (i was friends with some, and so did occasional covers/illustrations). it's always going to be a bit political: it is, after all, the sa's magazine (and as such, at the very least, is required to print...

    electioneering

i agree really, the whole election is a bit of a joke (hence the elections vertigo cover, if you saw it). it's one of those things that's been really built up over the years: stuff happens because it always has. which is a bad reason. there's been suggestions to ban elections advertising until...

    electioneering

argh! so much to reply to, so tired/hungover from campaigning and celebrating (respectively) chalk: it washes off in the rain. be glad you're not at usyd: they use paint. posters: they do it, we do it. it's one of the stupid things about the elections. in fact, the whole elections are...

    electioneering

in case you haven't already seen the posters, flyers, chalking, banners, etc... the uts students' association (S.A.) start tomorrow (monday 18th)! the polling is on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 11am-2pm and 4pm-7pm, and voting only takes 2 minutes. [hang on a minute, didn't we just have...

    Bush wired?

i agree. while i don't think the prospect of a wired bush is implausible, they'd use some crazy hi-tech espionage shit, not something that sticks out of your back.

    st andrews application?

i'd say that's go more to do with the students' club and their input into choosing new people, than porges.

    st andrews application?

i got in! and i have arms like straws! since got disillusioned, and left. it's ok, but i wouldn't like to stay there too long.

    libs and the senate...

there's a pretty interesting analysis of how it's all going here: http://crikey.com.au/politics/2004/10/12-0005.html if they get an absolute majority, the upper house is reduced to a fucking rubber stamp :(

What DONT you like about YOUR uni

uts: the bower building, and how ugly it is there.is.no.grass. people who get out of the lifts at levels 5 and 6 security are dickheads, mostly complete lack of drinkable coffee anywhere on campus ermmmm... yeah.

    Artexpress

yeah, the whole thing takes a while... i forgot about mine for ages and ages, i was on holiday when i got my letter, and hsc art was the last thing on my mind

    Artexpress

i think the deal with diaries is, they request it in one of the followign situations: - you've done awesomely, and you might get into artexpress or just get an awesome mark - there's a big discrepency between markers. say one guy gave you 48/50 and someone else gave you 33, something like...

    Post Election Thoughts Continued

IS THERE SOMETHING ABOUT HAVING YOUR GUY WIN AN ELECTION THAT PERMANENTLY DEPRESSES YOUR CAPS LOCK KEY? (just wondering.)

    elections suck!

they've got the senate, too. fuck. silver lining: we're one step closer to bloody revolution. let's all chip in $50 and put a collective price on the liberal party leadership.

    elections suck!

i just voted now. there was some liberal voter in the queue behind me. he was walking up to the labor, greens, dems, and even socialist alternative "how to vote" guys (even though they were clearly wearing party t-shirts etc.) and going: "liberals?" "ermm no, we're actually [party name]"...

    can we sell ur BOW

i gave a fair bit of mine away; to friends, art teachers, etc. i had the same sort of "i don't want it hanging up around the house" thing, too. something else that's sort of nice: swap stuff with friends or classmates. that way, you all end up with a selection of cool art you didn't have to...

    Any final thoughts?

hmm. i lurk on this forum a fair bit, but rarely post -- if i were to join in any of the arguments/discussions that go on here on a serious level, we'd just be arguing along two separate lines, each with ideologies that don't really intersect at all. the following words aren't mine; i stole...

    elections suck!

so basically, i'm over these elections and the polling booths aren't even open yet. but this is pretty much the coolest thing ever, so check it out instead of fighting about boring stuff like interest rates.

Should John Howard be allowed to run?

the feb 2003 protests had a turnout of about 250000 (by police and media estimates -- organiser estimates range from 300000 to 500000 -- so i'd say it was somewhere between police/organiser estimates)
