i'm into 2nd yr ...acst with computing ...but i think that the computing degree is too theoretical to help with acst....any opinions on that?

kunny funt: i personally dont know how double with economics helps but i'm probably being n00bie......there isn't realli a best i guess....i'm still thinking if i shd change my double with computing to something else....i also advise u picking something that may have subjects that may interest...

it seems like there's alot more theory than actual programming involved with the computing degree....thats why i'm having 2nd thoughts on it rite now... comp125 can be quite hard if u got no programming background, and i don't realli recall much architecture stuff....there's more theory...

eager beaver....getting access to websites early won't help i don't think....my opinion is that u shd just get a hand of the textbooks and start reading...

yep wat isaaq sed bout comp125 vs 115.... can anyone comment on whether comp degree is useful if u wanna be an actual actuary wen u get a job? or banking/finance/investment type job.... coz i found comp125 very dull and boring....so thinkin if comp degree is any good for me...

i guess i'm the only dropkick doing actuary without full time job or studying part time....:P

acst101? wat bout it? next year 1st sem: stat171, acst200, stat272, comp225 next year 2nd sem: acst255, comp226, stat271, acst211 original 1st sem had accg253 but i can do it wenever.... original 2nd sem had econ201 but doing it as summer course....

hey jason its ken...i gota do stat171/acst211 aswell next year.....but i'm doing comp degree ..... my change 1st sem: stat171 is going to replace accg253 2nd sem: doing econ201 this summer mite be different for u coz u're combining econ..... btw, try giving westcott a email....i think...

hey, about Macquarie Exams.....why is it that we get the crappy extra week in our mid sem break and not a 1 week break b4 exams (Stu-vac)....i really think i'd do better in exams if i had that 1 week to cram...

hahah...the exam was .....soso....couldn't say it was full hard...but u did need to know your stuff for higher marks ...algebra had more theory related questions.... i found the hardest question to be the group theory one coz i didn't know anything about intersections of 2 subgroups

i did 125 last sem and just passed....i was unprepared for the exam and fudged most of it....

overall test was alrite......but that cash flow statement Q......i think i failed that section miserably....

woh, i guess i am lucky...funny.....ppl ask me if actuary is hard and i'm like, "i rekon its the same as any other course, if u study and keep up with the work, its not too hard"....but given my current status, the course is already tough....hopefully wen i redo stat171 i can get D to boost GPA...

ohhh.....coz i didn't Credit STAT171 so gota do that and ACST211 next year....so I asked for advice and they told me I could do ECON201 in summer and ACCG253 later coz its not prerequisite for other subjects

hmmm, from wat i read on website...its not average of the 2 subjects....it was Credit and above for each subject...... yeh....i shood hab made good use of 1st year.....coz i heard stories that Ds/HDs are hard to get in later years..... i'm going to try study my ass starting this...

thas the stuffed up thingy with the acst exemptions....from wat i know, there's like only 2 subjects that actualli require Cr grades as prerequisites ...ACST200 (ACST101 Cr)and ACST211(STAT171 Cr)....other subjects just require P as prereqs so I think getting a P won't stop me from doing higher...
