    Design Courses (Billy Blue, UTS)

The 20% is a once-off loading, not compound interest. So if the course is $5000, you have to pay back $6000. On top of that is the yearly CPI increase (usually 3%-ish) but you get that one with HECS too, as cost of living increases.
  2. B

    Swine Virus

Stuck at home with a (perfectly healthy!) quarantined baby (had exposure to the confirmed case). Tamiflu hasn't been tested on babies under 12 months so have the doc's saying "we think it might be ok for them". Have public health people calling up 4 times a day to see what's up. Fun for all the...

    General operation of TAFE?

If you are worried about travelling, have a look at OTEN (which specialises in Tafe by distance). They've got some new marketing and advertising courses available now. If you have already done a bit at uni, by all means apply for Recognition of Prior Learning when you get there.

    Why does Accounting suck?

    Old posts are funny!
  7. B

HSC at TAFE: what age group are most people?

You can do a Bioscience degree (think RMIT offer it) via Open Uni by distance... no entry requirements or just some of the intro subjects to get you started... might give you some credit along the way. www.open.edu.au

How to transfer from Tafe to uni?

Try applying for UNE's Bachelor of Urban & Regional Planning (available by distance if you don't want to move)... the UAI will most likely be lower.
  10. B

    pathways to management consulting?

Have you tried looking at the Information Systems (sometimes named Business Info Sys or Management Info Sys) or Logistics pathways? Doing a generalist management degree isn't probably the best option straight out of school.
  11. B

The course offers a solid base in the four key areas of biotechnology; namely molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology and microbiology. Graduates will be equipped with a good understanding of recent trends and applications of technology in the biotechnology industry with special emphasis on...
  12. B

    Architecture at TAFE.

Do you mean the Dip in Architectural Technology? There's no maths as a pre-req so everything you need should be included. This course is for people who want to acquire architectural drafting and building information modelling skills. You will learn how to present and document building...
  13. B

    Studying two degrees at once?

Do 3 degrees at once through Open Uni's :)
  14. B

    Distance Education

Someone described Open Uni's in one of their threads really well... OUA is like Ticketek... they give you the pass to the show but they aren't the talent. The 'talent' is the individual uni's that make up the OUA consortium. Not all the uni's are adept at the whole distance ed thing. You have a...

    Universities for Registered Nursing?

Try a non-city uni like CSU - you don't get treated like a number. And later don't diss rural nursing - you are highly valued out here. UniSA and CDU (and I think CQU & James Cook) do it by distance. Try and get your AIN certificate beforehand so that you can (more easily) find work...
  16. B

    Cdu

Re: Cdu 2008 Anyone I'm interested in that course - how's it going?
  17. B

    Tafe to Uni? Urban planning

Country uni's = you actually get to converse with lecturers + small class sizes. City uni's = lecturers lecture, then leave the discussions to the tutors (4th year students), you are just a number. Planners are so in demand, doesn't matter about prestigiousness of the uni, you'll have a job...
