Tips on where to look for an exhaust leak?

You have your oil changed recently? Could be something minor like that, spilling alittle oil onto the engine (particularly the exhaust) will make your car smell for ages.... not sure about the Preludes but if its a V6 also these can have leaks around the valve cover gasket which then drips onto...

    0-100 Km/H Dash - Times

Im not sure.... they tend to overestimate fuel efficiency, I see no reason why they souldnt do it for acceleration as well. As for revving early on, Ive heard that also, but Im not sure about its credibility. ECU's even on most older cars can learn alittle (newer cars more so), and its not...

    0-100 Km/H Dash - Times

^ Yeah fair enough.... I think the previous poster got it 100% right though, the manufacters have the correct figures, its in their best interest to give the best figure possible so dont expect them to underestimate. They test it properly, without issues such has correct timing and speedo...

^ http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au/vehicle/comparespecs.php?key2=HOLD06HR&key=HOLD04IT Not sure if the VZ had the Alloytech (judging by the engine code in the above link), eitherway it only had 190kw, but crucially it weighed like 150kgs less than the current SV6 which only got an...

    0-100 Km/H Dash - Times

I would expect 12s.... Ive driven a friends Lancer and is was slooooooow compared to my V6 Camry. So if that does it on avg around 9secs, then the Lancer certainly isnt just 1sec slower! And dont get me wrong, Im not saying your bullshyting, its just doing it with a stopwatch is inaccurate...

    0-100 Km/H Dash - Times

Even 10secs for a Lancer seems generous... using a stop watch etc is often inaccurate. As for extra weight, of course it changes the way your car drives!!! You turn for eg a 1400kg light weight of a car into a 1700kg beast... without the extra power/torque a V8 of similar weight has to...

    General checkup costs?

How many kms you done since then? (This is whats most important.... time means nothing, oil etc lasts for an eternity when not in use!) Also what you need to change isnt really generic, look at your cars owners manual and in the service section you will see recommended intervals for coolant...

    General checkup costs?

Paying someone to do a basic service on your car is for suckers (And come on guys at the very least should do oil changes, takes 10mins)! Typical Service before Long Trip Haynes Manual : $30 (Which you have forever!) Oil : $40 Oil Filter : $10 Tranny Fluid : $30 Coolant Change : $30...

    Most ANNOYING things when Driving

I also hate cyclists.... not so much on side streets and that but when they go on the main road, ffs you dont need to practice on a main road. I think they aernt technically allowed to go on the paths either which I think is STUPID... how many cyclists die each year! So we stop them from...

    Most ANNOYING things when Driving

Yeeeeeeeeees...... n e way it hasnt effected my driving negatively, like Ive never floored the brakes to let anyone in cos I thought I have to...... best policy is make decisions which keep the traffic flowing (eg if a car is slightly ahead of you and lane is ending ahead slow down alittle to...

    Most ANNOYING things when Driving

Well now Im not so sure... I know when a lane is ending you do HAVE to let them in, but in the situation I was in I cant find anything to suggest you have to, but you should be curteous and let them in. However I was certain I read ages back that you can be fined for not letting someone in when...

    Most ANNOYING things when Driving

Something that Ive seen abit more frequently now is idiots who dont know how to indicate. On one occasion this twat on the highway in the left lane (me driving in the right lane) put his indicators on while I was say 10m off his rear, so I slow down to give him even more room and he just stayed...

    0-100 Km/H Dash - Times

Mate they are just as fast as Commodores but most people dont expect it (because the 4 cylinder Camry is slow which is most common)... my particular Camry has 140kw, 260Nm of torque (100% at 2500RPM) and weighs 1400kg. The manuals are also quicker and do the 100 in low 8s high 7s. Dont...

Car: V6 Toyota Camry 1993 Time: 8.5seconds Mods: Related to acceleration Id say slightly wider tyres, 215s from stock 205s, helps get all the power down rather then wheel spin

    commodores

Yeah...well Im sure theyve put more into it to justify the price, I believe its going to have paddle shifters etc... but yeah at $80k, there is some decent opposition around that price.

RTA dumbs down the new Red P's test...

The DART isnt about testing advanced skills nor should it be really.... its about testing to make sure you know the basics, like beign aware of your environment by looking arounding during a 3-point turn, checking both way at stop signs etc. If you know this stuff, you are ok when driving alone...

    teh CAR!

Yep Camry V6s are decent.... as for a car, Id say a Corolla is the way to go... but dont expect power, realisitically if your looking at 4cylinders there is no point even talking about power, just look at what is the most reliable, cheap on fuel, cheap to maintain etc

^ Umm I think your wrong. Even the crappiest of turboed cars is going to have a ratio that is excessive by their rules!!! Even friggin family cars like a Toyota Aurion aernt allowed under their rules as they weigh 1550kg and have 200kw... the maximum for that weight being only 190kw.

RTA dumbs down the new Red P's test...

I mean parrallel reverse park to clarify, but it is useless, most people like myself dont ever use it after passing (I can do them, but I couldnt be bothered stuffing around with it)!!! Its something which you dont have to use when driving (just move onto a bigger spot) and realistically is no...

RTA dumbs down the new Red P's test...

I dont see what the problem is... I think they are being sensible about it. Instead of making it ridiculously difficult, they are just changing the test to test things that are more important, like hazard perception, in place of useless things like reverse parking. And I cant stand the media...
