    How are the 06's finding yr 12 so far??

    WTF???? Open book HSC english essay assessment?? That is screwed up. Half the ppl would have gotten their brother/sister/mum/dad/friend/tutor/random guy on the streets to write their essays for them.

    maths question

    Let a, b and c be the roots of x^3 + 2x + 1 = 0 Let x=a^2 a=sqrt(x) Since a is a root, then it must satisfy the equ .:sqrt(x)^3+2sqrt(x)+1=0 sqrt(x)(2+x)^2=-1 x(4+4x+x^2)=1 .: x^3+4x^2+4x-1=0 is the required equ

    How much work are you doing over the holidays???

    I saw HP today... it wasn't bad but they cut way too much out. You would have to have read the book to understand what's going on, coz everything seems so sudden.

    Factorising polynomials

    When factorising something with a multiple root, e.g. P(x)=(x-@)^3 Q(x), is there a fast way to do it (e.g. by inspection)? Dividing the poly by (x-@)^3 or expanding it and equating coeffs can take a long time. I can find the first and last term of the factor by inspection, but I have to expand...

    any tips for 2006 phys students?

    I've made a mistake already. If you're making a motor for your assessment and it doesn't work, put 40V through it when demonstrating it and say that it did work before but you burnt it out. That's what some ppl did and they got higher marks than me (mine didn't work but I didn't use cheap...

    failing year 12

    Contrary to what many think, I do not believe that 14 units is too much work. There are many subjects that are not very demanding and you can get good marks with doing virtually no work.

    HSC or VCE?

    pfffffffft it may seem good, but imo it is screwed up. Just think about it. How would their tests differentiate between candidates? They would have to make their tests so hard! And also, I would imagine that the quality of the cheat sheets plays a big role on the students' performances, but it...

    help with some differentiate problems

    y=ax^3+bx^2-x+5 y'=3ax^2+2bx-1 y''=6ax+2b When x=1, y=-2 .:-2=a+b-1+5 .:a+b=-6 When x=1, y''=0 .:6a+2b=0 Then solve simultaneously

    help with some differentiate problems

    y'=32x(4x^2-1)^3=32x[(2x+1)(2x-1)]^3 When y'=0, x=0 or +-1/2 When x=0, y=1 When x=1/2, y=0 When x=-1/2, y=0 Then just use product rule to find y'' and sub the x values in to determine their nature.

    Goals4>yR12<

    I agree. I hate it when ppl say how hard it is to get a good mark in standard eng and use the lack of ppl in standard eng getting band 6 as an example.
