    Parallel conductors?????

lol simplified? your being nice alcalder =) it has pretty much been dumbed down to pub science not there but its close =) yes deriving equations the only one i ever remember deriving was the potential energy one =) W = Fs and you intergrate =) also dwatt this was year 11 work i think or it was...

    Dot point books

yes thats right the third coloumn in the dot points involves first and second hard investigations ie something the students must either do themselves or with the help of a teacher (class practicals)

    Random Question

ok i'll give you the short explaination =) if it doesnt make sense or you need more? ....... i'll leave it at that =) 1. two variables are mass and distance between the center of masses of the 2 objects IT IS IMPORTANT YOU SAY BETWEEN THE CENTER OF MASS!!! OR YOU WILL GET 0 2...

alot easier than last years i must say =) and yes the first answer was ethanol =)

    Physics Marathon!

The point was that it doesnt =) im not sure if you know this but einstein's theory of relativity showed how aether wasnt neccessary the purpose of the MM experiment was so that they could prove the existance of a mythical being called aether which filled all space to allow the propagation of...

    water open ended investigation help!

have you considered a test involving the boiling points? water = ice at troom temperature so basically get 3 beakers one with salt, one with anitfreeze/antiboil (its the same thing lah), and the last just plain water. 3 thermometers and just measure the boiling points of each note: you...

Who here actually wants to be an engineer?

UNSW FTW!!!!still tossing up which ones to do thoughleaning towards-mechatronics-chemical-biomedi have noticed that you can stick bio med with chem or mecha as a double degree ^^

Why do people find this topic so hard?

well this topic is relatively simple to understand .. there are only 2 concepts in the whole topic Faraday's Law Lenz's Law thats it everything grows from that

    [URGENT] Revision.

the direction of the induced current is in such a direction that it will induce a force to oppose the motion that caused it (change of flux) usually you state it with faraday's law attached but oh well key points are that its an INDUCED current

    Transformers- conservation of energy?

this is simple concept in a PERFECT world, which does not exist where there is no energy lost to heat in a transformer Pin = Pout where P is power which is Energy over time P = E/T and if Pin = Pout then energy is conserved

    Objects thrown under free fall

the topic states freefall BUT in the question the person asked freefall is not mentioned also i consider it illogical even by school standards for a situation to occur that involves freefall and a cliff unless of course an elevator/car was pushed off and you were in it

    Lenz law question???

its moving in the same direction as the magnetic field so i dont see anywayfor you to use your right hand rule my conclusion is that there is no current BECAUSE its moving in the same direction it should be perpendicular.. someone correct me if im wrong

AC induction motors and eddy currents

i like to think of it like this say the magnet is moving up then relavtive to the magnet the disc must be moving down by lenz's law it must induce a current to induce a force to oppose the motion which caused it the current being eddy currents and the motion being the downward motion and...

    Eddy currents and traffic lights

my guess would be that it would probably be the same as flux = BA true it might be problematic if the magnet was extremely strong but i think that because the area of a car is just that much greater then it cancels out? i dno its just my 2 cents

    Eddy currents and traffic lights

according to xiao its the iron in the car which causes both the car and magnet to experience a change in flux so if you go stamping along it then unless your loaded with iron it wont happen

    Objects thrown under free fall

i guess the main decision is how we define throw because to throw downwards could also be considered dropped in some cases

    Eddy currents and traffic lights

i dont really get your explaination i mean sure the traffic lights could be connected to a magnet at the stopping line but im also pretty sure that unless it experiences a change of flux a CONDUCTOR will not have a current induced (yes i know i cut this short) so your theory will not work unless...
