CS timetable: trying to get 4 days a week

MATH1141 and MATH1131 dont necessarily cover the same thing. In the areas where the topics covered are the same, MATH1141 questions are a lot harder. Also theres harder topics not taught at all in MATH1131

    Plan your timetable!

This is pretty much what i'm thinking right now. I'm still not properly enrolled due to some issues so i'm not entirely sure what the final timetable will be...at the moment though looks like im only turning up two days a week

    Plan your timetable!

MATH1081 has this annoying habit of having blanks in the lecture notes for important things, and you fill those blanks in at the lectures. Theres way too much content to be taught in tutes, so if you're skipping lectures you're effectively missing out on content (which you'll most likely have to...

    3rd Year comp courses

I was under the impression that COMP4xxx counts as level 3. And isnt it only 5 courses? (COMP3111 core plus 24 uoc of electives)

    3rd Year comp courses

You could take a look at COMP4xxx subjects too, pretty sure they can count towards your 24 uoc you need to graduate. I'm only taking COMP3121 1st semester, COMP3111 and another one 2nd semester and most likely COMP4141 over summer. COMP4141 is the one i look forward to the most.

I'm part time, 12 hours per week, still could not make a timetable with a day off. That is all.

    computer science

I dont think theres a lack of people doing comp sci, i think its more co-op is slightly restrictive. A lot of the people doing comp sci combine it with something else, which isnt allowed with co-op. I definitely wouldve done co-op had I done straight comp sci.

    computer science

You can apply for co-op in 2nd year if theres free spots. This year I (and all other 2nd years) were offered to get into it because there were spots still available (pretty much guaranteed entry due to lack of people). I wouldve taken it if i were straight comp sci, but i like maths too much.

Comparison of Maths Ext 2 books

Speaking from doing advanced uni maths, numerical solutions are fine in my opinion, often they'll help give you an idea of where you're going wrong/what to do, without actually solving it for you. I never consult fully worked solutions though, even if i think theres no chance of getting the...

    Maths Talented Students Program

MATH1901 - Differential calculus (complex numbers, derivatives, limits) MATH1903 - Integral calculus (series, differential equations, integration) The SSP topics do not follow on from these. They're almost all completely different topics. Cant really tell you which topics, i chose not to do it

    Maths Talented Students Program

USyd has the maths SSP, it effectively replaces MATH1901 in first semester and MATH1903 in second. You still do the assessments of MATH1901/1903, just attend extra SSP classes and get extra assessments. If you complete it satisfactorily, you will get a bonus 3 marks on your final result for...

    SAM on Premium problem

Mate, what the fuck are you on about? No where does it say you need to use the advanced SAM. The advanced SAM contains more features and better scaling algorithms, but in no way does it mean you need it, the ordinary SAM is more than enough. Everyone should be thankful that there is a SAM...

    general UNSW chit-chat

If Matt Wand is lecturing, theres no need to turn up at all. I really hated his teaching style, he effectively taught by examples, didnt really cover the theory but rather just did questions for the entire lecture. The notes are pretty good and are all you need. Either way, missing one lecture a...

    Plan your timetable!

Haha i guess its not so bad, its just really watered down and frustrating. Its like 'in real life this variable plays a role, but it complicates things so lets remove it from the equation and consider a simpler non-realistic equation'.

    Plan your timetable!

ugh, math2240 is really ugly (and boring). I honestly learnt nothing about meteorology or oceanography, the whole course was just solving DEs. If i had known, i'd have replaced it with something like math3521 :p I'd probably be entering MATH3611, MATH3521, COMP3121 and PHIL2001 and maybe another...

    pre-requisites,summer and overload

Yes, when i went to overload, i initially emailed them. They told me to write a letter saying i take responsibility for overloading etc. etc, then sign it and hand it to them. You can overload 3 uoc without issue though
