The parity bit tells us whether the sum of 1's is even or odd. The reciever will then count the number of 1's and see if it matches what the parity bit is saying (ie even or odd number). If it matches then everything is supposedly fine, else, the packet transmited is corrupt and needs to be re-sent.

ADSL: ISP service and modems (seperate)

I also heard some dodgy things about Ozforces. As fatmuscle said, u have to know what your ISP uses too. DODO use commendico service = CRAP! Bigblue (unlimited 256kb for $54) uses Telstra service which is great. Im with them and so far so good. Check with whirlpool forums. With the modems, i...

    If a positive charge was...

So when the magnetic field is "turned on" it isn't "moving" towards the south then? I thought that if the magnetic field was switched on, it would take some time to travel from the North to South.

    If a positive charge was...

Ahh i think i got it now. The i described it is the equivalent of the positive charge moving Parallel with the magnetic field which means no force ie f = qvbsinTHETA and Sin 0 = 0. :p

    If a positive charge was...

If a stationary positive charge was sitting there doing nothing and suddenly a magnetic field was "turned on" over it. Will it experience any force? Im thinking it wont because it aint moving. But then again there is a relative movement between it and the MF for the split second and there is...

Ok, so basically its counting the 1's and checking to see if it matches what the parity bit says (must be the worst form of error detection i recon :p)? Thanks :)

    Some questions from excel book.

Ok according to the other thread: Internal = intrinsic + commenting. Intrinsic = Meaningfull variable names, indentation etc... So "B" says "...commenting...", but commenting is internal documentation and not intrinsic? Thanks for your reply, i understand the other 2 now. :)

    Some questions from excel book.

Can someone please explain to me these questions and how they got the answer? Answer to this is B (acording to excel), but doesn't "intrinsic" mean indentation/layout of code? And "internal documentation" meaning commenting/meaningfull variable names etc... Im kind of leaning towards D for...

Isn't it the velocity of electrons moving or something? Anyway i think that was removed from the syllabus so you dont need to know it, unless its in Q2Q syllabus.

A question from sample HSC paper (excel).

Ok the answer says that its C. Shouldnt the answer be "B"? Since a semi-conductor is already able to conduct so theres no need to increase its conductivity (why would they wana do that anyway?). Am right or am i missing something (usually the case :p)? Thanks :)

Pathway of 5 solar mass star on HR?

Yeh as i said, i've got jackaranda but it doesnt have the pathway for 5 solar mass star other than 1, 5 and 0.1 (old syllabus i believe?). If anyone has a diagram in their notebooks or something, would it be possible to scan it? Thank you
