2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Re: 2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Beazley? The liberals didn't really have much choice at their launch, because the themes they've been hammering for the past month (unions eat babies, interest rates) haven't made any discernible difference in the polls. I think what the...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Re: 2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Beazley? No one's interested in specious comparisons that look like they came off the back of a Liberal how-to-vote card. Come back when you have something original to say.

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Plus, Kevin Andrews is being his usual incompetent, dishonest self, refusing to speak to the media about the Tran case (legal Australian resident, locked up in immigration detention for five years, sound familiar?) and breaching caretaker conventions by refusing to allow DIC to brief the...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

I'm really surprised that Newhouse wasn't more careful about that. Surely if he held a government job he was familiar with the rules about resigning it before nominating. (Although I always thought that the deadline for resigning was the close of nominations, not the submission of your...

Who is going to vote liberal?

Lindsay Macquarie Eden-Monaro Dobell Page Bonner Flynn (at a stretch) Wakefield Bass Braddon (if the Mersey porkbarrel doesn't hold it for the Liberals) Robertson (possibly) Blair Moreton Solomon La Trobe McMillan (perhaps) Corangamite Sturt (perhaps) Kingston Makin It's doable. There are also...

Re: Subject Reviews - UPDATED WITH .PDF on first post HSTY1088 Australian History: An Introduction Lecturer: Dr James Curran Ease: 8.5/10. Content-wise, there was nothing that was much of a stretch, although some weeks there was a ton of reading. (The 'Debating the Bush' tute in particular...

    Debit cards

They'll send you a normal debit card. You have to apply separately for a Visa debit card because Visa has its own requirements or something that it has to check. Talk to someone at a branch about it.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2007/11/13/2089191.htm?site=elections/federal/2007 I'm not quite sure who to believe. On the one hand, Dani Ecuyer is clearly a massive publicity whore, as the 'climate hunks' strategy demonstrates, but on the other hand Caroline Overington and the rest of the...

Yay, more shitty liberal pamphlets! Lie about Labor policy. Plus, misuse of semicolon. Hate. ...because there would be if there were liberal state governments? What the hell? Anyway, I love the way that they're dog-whistling on immigration. The Sudanese gangs are coming! God, I can't wait for...

StuVac & Exam Period Bitch and Moan Thread (II, 2007)

Progress! I've now given up on kakuro and have moved on to vainly struggling with the cryptic crossword. At this rate I'll be ready to start studying by about Thursday.

Study update: I've done no archaeology study whatsoever, and am now preoccupying myself with Kakuro on the Bulletin's puzzles page. Fuck, I can't wait until archaeology is done with.

How many words do you write per line? I write 10-11 a line, and for me 1000 words is about 3-4 pages.

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

So here's the Liberal campaign launch that is allegedly going to "blow Rudd out of the water": More or less the Labor plan, with a trust-fund element. Plus, the government paying into the accounts! Yay, middle-class welfare! Is he supporting Labor's increase in the rebate percentage? If not...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Basically yes. But it means that the ALP can be slightly more moderate and accuse the government of a spending spree, which is exactly the line that the government needs to be running against Labor. I can't imagine why they didn't wait until Labor announced its date to schedule theirs.

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

You can't really predict polls at this point, they're shoving them out basically at random. There'll probably be a couple released on Friday and Saturday to gauge the response to the campaign 'launches' this week. Incidentally, Peter Hartcher makes the good point in today's herald that it was a...
