HORRIBLE integration question - for those with time to kill!

Oh, well yeah that part you need to be careful, but in terms of the integral its not a hard question.

HORRIBLE integration question - for those with time to kill!

    yeah, x = [-1 +- sqrt(17)]/2 so?

HORRIBLE integration question - for those with time to kill!

    find where they intersect, call them a and b (where b>a) then integrate (from a to b) 4 - x - x2 dx?

    balmer series question

    Haha i never said it was C :p that was groves: [17:33:54] <groves> it's C [17:34:20] <_droid|> how'd u get it so fast? [17:34:32] <groves> i'm good

    balmer series question

The answer is A. Basically you just replace v2 with c/lambda, then solve for lambda. edit: i just read the above, i don't see how any other ones can be right :S

    Ex 1 - 94/100 = ??

In my opinion, I found it this years easier which would mean higher raw mark, but I don't think im the best to judge these things considering im now a year older and am now doing uni maths, it could just be my ability has increased. It's probably better if you compare this years and last to see...

    math induction questions

If its a series, it should be. But for examples like the one you posted in the other thread, ie. d/dx xn = nxn-1, you need to sub in n = 1 to both sides.

    easy MI question

    For n=1, LHS = d/dx x = 1 RHS = 1.x0 = 1 Hence it is true for n = 1 Assume true for n = k d/dx xk = kxk-1 Need to prove true for n = k+1 ie. prove d/dx xk+1 = (k+1)xk LHS = d/dx xk+1 = d/dx xk.x = x d/dx xk + xkd/dx x (using product rule) = kxk-1.x + xk (using n = k...

    Ex 1 - 94/100 = ??

Last year, quite possibly. This year im not so sure. You need to take into consideration the difficulty compared to last year.

Semester 2, 2005 at Usyd (or 2005 at USyd)

    1. First semester was damn hard/time consuming 2. Second semester was way too easy 3. I think first year maths was ok, wasn't really satisfied with the first year IT units 4. Overall, difficulty wasnt that high 5. I most likely wont be here next year

    math induction questions

It shouldnt matter, they should both be the same if n = 1 is the first term

James Ruse are cheaters and the BOS do not care.

Considering we're talking about maths mainly here, i'd like to say you wont get a state ranking by only working hard. In maths you definitely need the foundations, you can't start on yr 11 and 12 stuff by skipping yr 7-10, you need to learn it, whether it means at a normal or accelerated rate.

My school isnt of repute, but we did do some topics ahead of time (mainly in yr 10 and 11), not just for maths either, sciences also.

James Ruse are cheaters and the BOS do not care.

Theres a difference though, the initial post was about year 9/10. Year 11 and 12 maths (all levels) are fairly separate on most parts, many of the things covered in year 11 are re-done in year 12, 4 unit maths doesnt even have a year 11, and you can do well in one and not the other. However in...

Yeah, I'd like to see what these exams are actually like.

That's the thing, if BoS did set an appropriate syllabus for these students, they wouldnt need to accelerate them.

They don't skip ahead. They do work faster. They need to learn the course just like everyone else.

Wrong. It's not common knowledge, it's common misconception.

Do you mean a student who gets an aligned HSC mark of 80 in james ruse will have a higher scaled mark contributing to their aggregate mark than a student from another school?
  20. A

James Ruse are cheaters and the BOS do not care.

They dont have advantages of scaling because of their school. Learn the system before you comment on these things.
