    Hard Projectile Q

I admit im not the best moderator around, and I admit im not 'excellent', however I believe you misunderstood what I said. I did not offer my own personal solutions for that question, in fact I offered to make a file containing solutions to that entire chapter (which is in the process of being...

Just got my Optus Broadband connection :)

Cool ill call them tomorrow. I just regret buying some of this adsl gear now, gonna have to sell it. The other option was to transfer over to telstra phone, get them to set up the proper copper lines and then transfer back over to optus (since telstra doesnt have an minimum contracts to stay...

Qualitative Science email? Physics with no maths!

The Quantum World: The quantum revolution began in 1900 and is continuing rapidly today. The part of the course examines the evolution and status of the radical quantum ideas that have reshaped our view of the world and that are now the foundation of much of today's technology. This...

    90+

Thats way too low...basically saying if you barely pass youre going to get a band 6? Lazarus estimated it to be around 91.0 - 93.7 for last year based on the raw marks of the students who successfully did obtain their raw marks last year for this course

Either way, the thought of re-doing a hsc physics type unit isnt really appealing

Qualitative Science email? Physics with no maths!

From the sounds of it, it will be like HSC Physics except with even less maths. Especially the first two course components

keyword: "hoping" :p The only one I have some confidence in a HD is PHYS1901 because I came into it having lost only 1 mark, with the final exam being worth 60%

    Assuming angles in diagrams.

Now that I look at it, the arrow at N probably shows they expect you to assume that N is due north. If thats the case then there are no assumptions at all in the question. However its still a crap question that they should have properly stated that N is due north.

    Assuming angles in diagrams.

Yeah that follows from the assumption that N is due north of P. And since Q is due east of P (which was given), when east meets north, you get a right angle :)

I Need Help On A Couple Of Q's!

You probably shouldnt do it that way since you are assuming that the initial population is something that it might not be, even though it gives the correct answer. The formal method is assuming that the initial population is A, and doing it the way Slide_Rule did it: P = Aekt When t = 3...

I Need Help On A Couple Of Q's!

As for the area question, you get that the maximum occurs when x = 3.5355, this is correct but is not the answer for the area. The area is the value you get when you plug this x value into the equation A = 0.5x*sqrt(25 - x2). You will then get your answer of 6.25

    Assuming angles in diagrams.

You are assuming the N is due north of P, hence RPQ = 20. I guess you shouldnt but considering its only question 3 i think the assumption would be safe. In worst case scenarios, you can always indicate to the examiners that there is a problem :) But you're right, generally you should assume...

I Need Help On A Couple Of Q's!

1/2x./(25-x^2) does that mean 0.5x/(25-x2) ie 0.5x divided by (25-x2)?
