roots of polynomial with real coeff

I thought only complex numbers could have conjugates? The conjugate of a real number, in this case 2-sqrt3, is that same real number. Well its what I thought anyways.

    Hard Projectile Q

Mellonie, I was not talking about you specifically. I was referring to making a file with answers to that entire chapter, as these questions have been asked multiple times before, to assist others. You do not need to use them if you dont want to but others would find it useful.

    Hard Projectile Q

At some stage most of the questions from this chapter in fitzpatrick have been answered. I have my own personal solutions to these too, so during the holidays ill make a pdf merging everyones answers so next time someone asks we just need to give them the link

application of calculus to the physical help

3 unit rates of chain would undoubtedly involve the chain rule in one way or another. eg they may say find the rate at which the area of a circle is increasing given that the radius is increasing at a rate k m/s. So you need to find dA/dt, but A is not in terms of t, hence you must use dA/dt...

    Help with software questions....

self documenting of code can include things such as adding comments after major lines in the code to show others who read it what that section of code does. Obviously, having things such as these will make maintenance easier as less time has to be spent trying to figure out what the code...

    Raw marks

Thats incorrect. He might have been overestimating his mark. I got 75/84 in the 2004 HSC and that equated to 48/50 for maths ext 1.

    Semester Two subjects

Haha good at maths...not likely (well at least relative to others on here). Its not a major part of my degree since im going to major in pure maths, so i figured i dont want to take it advanced (theres also the not having to wake up early factor :D). There was also the question of doing discrete...

Vertical Motion under Gravity help needed - ASAP

Unless they give you the formulae (in which case you dont have to do anything), it is almost guaranteed that some of the marks will be allocated to deriving the equations

    applicable?

What they're are saying is when you use that method, you are working with inverses and thus have to start worrying about restrictions on domain because, as you have learnt in inverse functions, not all equations are invertible

    applicable?

From syllabus: An alternative treatment of simple harmonic motion begins with the differential equation a = –n2x and then uses the inverse trigonometric functions to derive a solution of the form x = a cos (nt + a). A rigorous treatment along these lines is difficult because x is not an...

    Programs Eligible for Major Work?

This is the screenshot for our major project. Doesnt really help for people in the hsc, just thought id show it :p. Thats a demo version so it only uses 3 airports, but any amount can be added with minor modifications. It wasnt really an enjoyable project as im not into coding animations in...

    Computational Science

From hearing what people who have done it have said, they are giveaway subjects. I like how normal and advanced for these units arent separated, ie they do the exact same things, same class, labs etc. Advance just get given some additional work and one section of the final exam is harder for...
