Beware the religious invasion of our polity

Next Sunday on Compass on the ABC they are showing a special on Family First (Sunday 1 May -- 10.10pm) which I think will be quite interesting: Even more interesting is what is scheduled for the week after! Kevin Rudd: The God Factor Sunday 8 May -- 10.25pm !

HAY GUYS! The Unions are sick of small crowds

Haha "rent-a-crowd" It's so true - there goes more of the cash which students are forced to provide, to protest against something they don't necessarily agree with

"...so many funds are wasted on rediculous services such as mass-counselling for the emotionally unstable, while the emotionally stable are neglected and forced to attend lessons presided over by sadistic french teachers." hahahaha

    atom bomb/terrorism

Re-read and you will see I was referring to terrorism in general; I did not mention anything about WW2.

    atom bomb/terrorism

I think it might be more complicated than that, though I'm not sure how. Remember how during WWI the Turks and ANZACS came out and talked together during peacefire, removed their dead and wounded, and had tea with each other? Would it be just if the Aussies suddenly all pulled out pistols and...

    atom bomb/terrorism

Good question tattoodguy lol "cheated". It is interesting that states cannot commit 'terrorist' acts, but the same acts committed by individuals or non-government groups are classified as terrorism. One argument in favour of terrorism is that there is no better way -- the groups...

I agree, I think one of the main differences is discipline. I would have thought though, that drug use proportions would be relatively similar because wealthier students have the means to obtain them.

In comparison though, I would think it more likely in private schools Yes stereotypes are everywhere, which was my point. I'm not talking about stereotypes, rather 'values'

    ANZAC day 05

I haven't 'celebrated' it in a while, mainly because it's my mum's bday and that takes priority. I usually just reflect on it at one point during the day. lol last time I actually did something visible for it was when I carried the flag for scouts in a march back in '96

No, because that is one mere stereotype of a type of student (as well as a stereotype that might well be held if one were to attend a private school). The values I'm talking about are broad world-values, not mere student stereotypes. Yeah same. A lot of people I know who went to private schools...

heh you seem suprised I can be against cutting private school funding but think values may be more prominent in public schools. I'm usually never on one extreme, often my own reasoning leads me to a position of balance -- not because neutrality is good per se, but often balanced positions happen...

Basically I would have thought that diversity of students would encourage tolerance, and that being surrounded by a large proportion of wealthy students, albeit not all, might tend to produce some snobbery, pride, materialism, intolerance and ignorance, all to some probably small but relevant...

    School funding

Yes and if anything I should think "values" (which without a clear description and contextual grounding are really misleading and hollow entities of rhetoric) are more prominent in public schools... but that's another argument

Um, you might want to re-read my post. If you do you will realise I criticised the comment, I did not approve it.
