He means that the actual CA program is a lot harder. There are i think 5 areas of study and it is very demanding I have a friend doing it at the moment who is pretty intelligent but is finding it very stressful. And why the hell would you get both? That's just stupidity.

People from the ICAA came to one of the lectures. When quizzed on why their program is better than the CPA one of their responses was that the CA is recognised in far more overseas countries than the CPA.

Well if you want to work for Deloittes, Ernst and Young, Price Waterhouse Coopers or KPMG I suggest you do a CA. These firms rarely hire CPA's. As well the CA program actually gives you a graduate diploma and units from it can thus be counted towards an MBA in the future. The CA is a lot...

I work at Macquarie too. Most managers there have majored in accounting and finance and have a CA and/or MBA. Also a lot of the Business Analysts and people who work in treasury did econometrics.
