    first is the worst

At the risk of repeating what Ragerunner said, there is absolutely no danger of you being dragged down from first by your classmates. If you're ranked first in a subject, and then you come first in your school in the HSC exam, you will receive that exam mark as both your own personal exam mark...

    What are you currently Reading?

Living History, Hillary Rodham Clinton's autobiography. It is quite interesting, you see that she is a very strong and talented individual, much much more than simply Bill Clinton's wife.

This was my final proposal which I wrote only a couple of weeks before the project was due, there were a few before this but they're handwritten. It got full marks.

    Sourcing Government Reports/Inquiries

Do you mean as in finding the full text of the source, or including the source in your bibliography? If you mean for bibliographical purposes, I simply did mine (related to Pearl Harbor) like a book, with the publisher as the government organisation responsible. I put (pres.) in after the...

    Anyone writing their own novel?

True... Matthew Reilly got rejected and self-published his first book ... and now he's a bestseller. Even though I like writing I could never write a novel because I'd have too much trouble sustaining a story or idea for that long.

    History Extension

ujuhpleg is right, finding a topic which no-one has done before is probably actually a bad idea, because there will be NO historiography on it. I did Pearl Harbor, which had heaps of historiography but I was able to analyse it and draw my own personal conclusions.

    Constantines Conversion to Christianity.

I didn't do Constantine but someone in my class did. Judging from his footnotes, the sources he appeared to use are: "Constantine was a genuine and determined Christian" - Eusebius, "Ecclesiastical History" Book X, 1942 (Harvard University Press). - Norman Baynes, "Constantine the Great and...

    History Extension

If you want to do a really good job, I would recommend starting as early as you can. If you took extension history, you must like history ... what particular areas are you interested in (beyond just 'modern' - ie. WWII, the Cold War, feminism, etc.)? A topic such as "government through time"...

    HARRY POTTER: Has anybody noticed....?

Each successive book has either a longer or more complex plot (ie. OP is longer than GF, which is longer than PA and so on), but they still have to fit the story into a movie of similar length... so they're going to have to leave out more and more each time. However, I think the movies are...

this is prob gonna sound really dumb...

If you lived in the 19th century, that's exactly what you'd think. But half the point of relativity is that the speed of light is constant for all observers.

    Circular motion

I thought: Friction between the car and the road provides a centripetal force. The car does undergo a net force because it is moving in a circle - ie. it has changing velocity and thus acceleration. If there was no net force acting on it, it would fly off the road. The statement is wrong because...
