    interview bomb

Appearing less dumb for an interview won't necessarily increase your chances of getting a job. Personally, job interviews require you to do 2 things, 1) Make yourself sound as suitable for the job itself as possible (expierence wise, number of hours you want to work, etc) 2) Try and...

You seriously will have the time of your life reading Brave New World by Aldous Huxley....

Are the lectures any good at UNSW?

Keep the enthusiasm up and it will be an enjoyable expierence. I like the uni student lifestyle but not necessarily going to uni... I find that an amusing but realistic contradiction.

Are the lectures any good at UNSW?

Differs for everyone, obviously. Though I've observed that many older students start goin to uni less than they did in first year. As for others, the amount of time they spend at uni wont change at all... And for some, they might go even more due to club/activities involvement. I'd just like...

Are the lectures any good at UNSW?

If you come to UNSW to do commerce/economics, you'll notice how enthusiastic everyone is when they attend their first lectures (eddy avenue gets packed, no seats in lecture theatre, etc, etc....). Then you'll slowly see the lazy-as-fuck attitude that most of us com kids have when lecture...

    I need a job!

I'm confused? You plan on working 8 FT weeks and then part-time afterwards? Part-time as in when you go back to school? Because if so, I find that highly unlikely. If that is indeed the case, I find it highly unlikely that an employer will give a high school kid part-time hours. On top of...

    Pay Rate For A Receptionist!!!!

$8 an hour for receptionist work?? You should at least be getting somewhere between $12 to $15? otherwise you may as well view it as work experience. It's weird too as you say you're working 33 hours a week as a casual so you should be entitled to a higher rate because you're not getting the...

    I need a job!

Couldnt agree more. On top of that, alot of employers would rather hire someone permanent as opposed to a student who they would know they would have to replace sooner or later.

    I need a job!

Keep doing what you're doing.... It's a bit late now to look for a job at the moment as the xmas hiring period is over. Still, persistence is really the key factor in trying to find work.

    Call back...

Fast food and retail are the worst when it comes to call backs.... Most employers won't bother calling you if your application failed but if you make it through to the next stages (interview, etc..), you'll probably be notified. To be honest though, I'd rather not get a call back at all than to...

    Re B Comm/B Eco

Yeah, definitely send an email to the ASB about it. Since this is goin into languages (which i basically consider arts/social sci territory), best thing is to ask them about it.

    Re B Comm/B Eco

1 course over the degree limit? As in you won't finish on time? Because quite simply, there isn't anything such as a degree limit. You finish when you finish, basically. However, the answer to your question is pretty simple... If you need to do geneds (which im 99% sure that you will have to)...

    Re B Comm/B Eco

If you are successful with getting in, UNSW will notify you online and give you access to a site where you can accept your offer and choose the specifics of your degree. Pretty straight forward so don't bother worrying about it until you actually get accepted first.

    Summer holiday job?

It not a bad idea to start working and studying at the same time considering you're probably gonna end up doing it anyway once you start uni. Only real thing you need to consider is whether you can actually find a job in 5 weeks. If you can, good stuff because it'll mainly teach you how to more...

What's your job and how much you earn?

I did promo work once or twice but its not worth it because work and pay is too unstable. It is fun though depending on what the promo is. Age: 19 Job: Marketing Assistant (On the phone with retailers, asking about instore fixtures/need for more POS material/getting sales figures/etc. etc.)...

Help with Job at the local video store.

After reading this thread, not once has the word 'CV' or 'resume' been mentioned.... Since its your first job, you'll still need to write a resume up about who you are, what you've done and how they can contact you. Best thing to do when it comes to first jobs is to spam your resume around...

COMSOC seriously sucks...sending out overdue messages/emails..unorganised & worthless

After having spent nearly two years at university and having been involved with all sorts of societies, I've have come up with a singular conclusion... I have a developed a serious contempt for most student societies and organisations. The reason being that students mostly have...

    What you hate about UNSW

I assume you do commerce, engineering, science or a combination thereof as thats where all the Asians are. I originally thought you hated all the Asians at new south but your only real problem is with all the fobs. I understand they're a pain in the ass and all that but there is really nothing...
