BBC (Applied Finance) / B Law

As far as the law course - even first year is not all theory, at least in the past. Although 'skills' are now in separate units, you still do assessments that involve practical work. Eg moots, client letters of advice First semester is pretty ordinary due to Intro to Law - i found that...

    Should I drop Law?

Additionally, just because the entry cut off was 90 doesn't mean that the students there all achieved a max of 90. Plenty of students achieve higher marks but choose UWS nonetheless.

    Atticus Finch and Law

Whilst everyone always seems to say "hey if you don't do well, it's all good cause you can go to UWS" - keep in mind that it is not the case that all unis require very high UAIs except UWS. It is not an exclusive club that UWS belongs to :p There are other unis that offer law degrees that don't...

    2009 Autumn Semester Examination Period

Actually, you're supposed to turn it off :) If its on silent, you can hear it buzz and you can still get noted for misconduct during the exam. Plus - if you put it on silent like some dopes have done in my exams before, that doesn't necessarily mean the alarms and reminders on your phone are...

Which university is best for law?: The definitive answer

Exactly - i've noticed that the teachers who get the worst response from students are often those who are in fact better teachers and students simply don't like them because they don't put up with their crap and expect them to do their work.

Law students with UAIs under 70?

Often these rumours are untrue. Eg before i started in 2005, there were plenty of rumours going around that the highest UAI entry to UWS for that year was 92, which I know was untrue because i know plenty of people, including myself, who got higher UAIs. There was also a rumour that students...

    Question!

I would think that the fact that it says "prescribed circumstances" refers to those prescribed by legislation etc and not by the judiciary. You'll notice that statutes that allow the court to determine what relevant factors/conditions/circumstances etc are seem to say "as the Court may see...

    Referencing ???

You've probably done the assignment by now, but FYI for future - Where you have more than one citation that has the same author and year, you add a letter on the end so eg you'd have (SMH, 2008a); (SMH, 2008b) etc In your reference list/bibliography you would put the same letter after the date...

Can you vehemently oppose abortion and be pro-death penalty

If based on that basic no one can decide to take a life premise, then I would think it is hypocritical to be pro one but anti the other. However, I can see how some people say that death penalty is justified because of the belief that the person has done something to 'deserve' it whereas an...

What sort of WAPM are you averaging?

If you say so. It's of no consequence to me what your opinion is in this regard. :)

What sort of WAPM are you averaging?

I don't see how. All I am saying is that it's pointless, and can be embarrassing for you, if you lie about your marks so I don't get why students do. If you don't want to tell people your marks, just don't :). Or just tell them what mark band, i.e. P, C, D etc, rather than making it up. Or...

What sort of WAPM are you averaging?

My favourite exaggerations to date have been one particular student at my uni who professes that he achieved 1st place in certain units when in fact myself and 2 other students I know did... If you're going to bs, at least make it realistic :p

What sort of WAPM are you averaging?

In that case, for the record mine is not an exaggeration. Feel free to view my academic transcript lol :) But then again, i'm not a male ;)

What sort of WAPM are you averaging?

Not sure if WAMs are figured out using some sort of formula other than basic averaging ?? since my uni only does things by GPA. But my GPA is above 6 (6 being Distinction) and my average mark is for my whole course, being a b Bus/B Law is 78. My average mark for just law is 80.

    2009 Autumn Semester Examination Period

Sucks now that they have 3 time slots a day, used to be 2. Means that parking at Parra campus will be even more of a pain cause there'll be more students around every day and less time to find a spot in.

    dropping law

You're only in your first semester! Don't let your marks be the sole determining factor in a decision to continue or not - i know a lot of people who got Ps in first semester but thereafter got Cs and Ds as their usual marks. If you don't want to do law, then don't do it - but make that...

    Interesting scenarios, whats your opinion?

I would say neither were provoked (not based on my knowledge of Criminal Law though - i did it back in 2005 so my memory of this aspect of it is very limited :) ). (1) - if it said in the question "annoying" his brother i wouldn't think that would be sufficien to be provocation as annoyance and...

    Interesting scenarios, whats your opinion?

Is this for an assignment? If so, don't expect too many serious replies.... If not - sorry but it sounds a lot like students who basically ask others to answer things for them so again, don't expect too many serious replies :)

    Combined law graduation

Depends on your uni perhaps. I attend UWS and i chose to 'graduate' from my Business degree in 2008 so will graduate from my law degree in the april 2010 ceremonies. You can leave it until the end of the degree, however, at UWS, you would still attend 2 ceremonies, one for each degree

Why Poverty is NOT the cause of crime..

If you are asking because this is an essay question, put bluntly - you shouldn't ask other students for the answer. Somewhere you can look for some guidance can be these books: Law in Perspective by Head; Mann and Economics, Business Ethics and Law by Mann; and Crime, Reason and History by...
