    Young Liberal / Young Labor

Re: Young Liberal / Young Labour How strange, the prevalence of Young Liberals in this thread? When compared to the Young Labor numbers.

    hottest 100

Wow, you're bright. Pretty bad - only Crazy, from the top 10, does anything for me. Only about 1/4 (if that) of the top 100 did anything for me.

    Last movie you've seen?

I've gone and rewatched a lot of Hitchcock films lately, the most recent being Lifeboat, which is interesting (is that his first "one set only" film which he'd go on to further work with on Rope and Dial M for Murder? It's amazing what he could do without changing the setting). Whilst doing this...

    2007 oscar noddies

Especially now with the larger numbers of Academy voters. The last tie would've been Streisand/Hepburn in 1968, yeah? Or have I forgotten one? There's only been two in Academy history, I think I heard?

    2007 oscar noddies

I'd like Eastwood to win Director again just for the mass suicide of the die hard Scorsese fans. Good to see Dreamgirls get shut out of the major awards, if ever a film looks like an overhyped piece of shit.

Is Kevin Rudd Too Right Wing For the Labor Party?

Isn't Latham the only leader the ALP has had who wasn't religious?

    Australia's Favourite Album

It's good but overrated. Half the tracks were great once, but overplaying has caused them to lose anything too special in them (which is why When The Levee Breaks is the best song on it). Zeppelin were a good band (peaked with the first two albums, afterwards they fell into inconsistency) but...

    Australia's Favourite Album

Meatloaf and Red Hot Chili Peppers are ridiculous to be there. Jeff Buckley and Zeppelin IV should not make the top ten. Pretty average list in all, even ignoring Callea there are some jokes of albums on the list. Also, only two blacks in the entire list (both awesome, mind you) and...

    Rudd new ALP leader

I was glad that Rudd/Gillard challenged. I personally thought Gillard should've replaced Latham, and Beazley should have never come back. That said, I've always felt Beazley seemed like a fairly decent bloke, and so can't help but feel for the poor bastard on what must rank as being amongst...

    Favourite Star Wars Actor?

Hahaha Hayden Christensen, what the fuck? Surely it's Alec Guinness. I could see an argument for Harrison Ford. And I'd root Carrie Fisher and Natalie Portman.

    The Prestige

I don't get why everyone's so confused - I found the film pretty straight forward. I didn't find any of the plot developments overly "twist"-like either. I was slightly disappointed, I'd say. Though I did enjoy it, I thought it started incredibly slow (but by the time the film got going I...

robert altman died at 81 on monday

Regarding Saw III: .... That said, I was surprised when I first read this news, which is in itself surprising given Altman's age. That said, I can't deny that I'm not an overly huge fan of his, only a couple of films really do it for me (MASH and Nashville, really), but I do respect him...

"Classic" albums you can not enjoy

For me, Low is worth a mention in this thread. I love Bowie, and really love both "Heroes" and Station to Station (probably my second favourite Bowie album, behind Ziggy) surrounding it, but Low to me has always been spectacularly dull. You're wrong on this one, my friend.
