    Semester 1 Timetables

Yeah it was quite repetitive but there were some variations! though the idea was essentially the same nearly all the time. Still, the final exam was kinda hard and many ppl stuffed it up (prob because they cbb to study for it since it was so boring).

    Semester 1 Timetables

At your own risk, yes. but not the best advice to skip when there are no lecture recordings for maths. Though that being said, I skipped lots of my adv lectures for MATH2965 and it wasn't a big deal since there was an awesome course note to study from (there are those for most 1st year courses...

    Semester 1 Timetables

Ah I see, that's fair enough though I still don't like how every student with difficult clashes have to go and see timetabling unit staff in person. People who care about it anyway looks at the central timetable and use excel or whatever to work it out first anyway. Shouldn't they just get given...

    Semester 1 Timetables

From what I hear from people, it seems to have gotten much better than it previously was. However, one thing I've always disliked about timetabling at USYD (and still do now) is that if you get difficult clashes, you need someone to set the timetable up for you. This is very inconvenient and...

Advice on whether to drop subjects?

I'd say wait till you do your 1st MX2 assessment and get your results/compare it to Physics keeping in mind the aligning/scaling. It is generally agreed that MX2 requires heavier workload than Physics but it depends on your Maths vs Physics abilities. Drop either one of those if you feel that...

    Need help on Probability Question!

The answers must have been: a) [(97x97x3)/100^3] x 3 b) [97^3/100^3] c) [3^3/100^3] deducing from the the answer of a. but then this assume that probability of any particular car being faulty is 3/100 regardless of whether the 1st one was or not... which is, in other words, to say that they...

    Need help on Probability Question!

Oh, I just like writing it that way but the 3! would have been 3x2x1 if you wrote full working out and 3C1 is just 3 anyway. Just notation difference!

    Need help on Probability Question!

Assuming that 3 are indeed faulty, (which should be what that question is saying but it's not worded very well...) a) (3x97x96)/(100x99x98) x 3C1 b) (97x96x95)/(100x99x98) c) 3!/(100x99x98)

Catalyst for the reaction of polyethylene

HDPE reaction doesn't even need an initiator. The Zeigler-Natta catalyst also doesn't participate in the reaction. It's a heterogeneous (surface) catalyst.

    HSC 2012 MX2 Marathon (archive)

Re: 2012 HSC MX2 Marathon You forgot to put z in the quadratic factors after 2cos(pi/5) and 2cos(2pi/5). Just to let you know, it's easier if you: \\$let $a=cis\left(\frac{\pi}{5}\right)$, $b=cis\left(\frac{2\pi}{5}\right)$, then$\\(z-1)(z-a)(z-\overline{a})(z-b)(z-\overline{b})...

How can we determine between strong/weak acids and bases based on chemical formula

Re: How can we determine between strong/weak acids and bases based on chemical formul OP clearly stated that he knows what strong and weak acids are and yet you've simply restated their definitions. Clearly, that's not what the OP wanted. And some corrections: The first bolded bit would make...

Is getting a 88 for school certificate science crap?

I got 89 in SC sci and 97 in both HSC chem (state rank) and phys. So SC doesn't mean much, I'd say.
